Putin said he is stopping the air strikes - for now. His said his intention is not to reduce all of Ukraine to rubble. The air strikes were to send a message to Ukraine and the west not to get carried away and think it can hit a bridge in Crimea without retaliation. The Ukranians were certainly shaken by the strikes. If pushed, Ukraine will receive a nuclear strike and the west will watch from the sides as they don't want one on their heads.
