Ukraine must remember if it continues to misbehave, Putin has said he will use more Hazels. If a number of Hazels are used in the same area, the destruction is equal to a nuclear strike but without fallout from radiation. The west cannot give enough air defences to stop drones and conventional missiles when used in a large volume. So far Russia has sought to minimise casualties, but if push comes to shove, they have the capacity to level Kiev or any city. The west has nothing to stop Hazel.

After they had found the weak spot and worn the Russians down, he said they would bring their strike force and uncommitted equipment into the fray and force the Russians into surrender ! Meanwhile Ukraine's handlers in the US are beginning to voice the opinion that Ukraine cannot win. The US military is saying the Ukrainians are wasting their time and western resources with attacks on the bridge and on Moscow, and they should stick with the plan of breaching the Russian defences and heading towards Azov Sea. Meanwhile, Russia is advancing on Kupiansk with a view to get Kharkhov oblast back. In Vilnius, the US signalled acceptance of defeat when it said Ukraine cannot join NATO and there is no plan - they conceded THE key Russian demand.

They did not have the political maturity to steer a neutral path between its powerful neighbour and American lures. It was given independence under the conditions that it would give up nuclear weapons sited there by the Soviet Union, and it would not join any military alliance. The Kerch bridge was hit a few times, till the Russians figured out how to knock out the Storm Shadows. They got hold of a major part of a Storm Shadow and took it to Russia for analysis. This round of euphoria will last less than 2 months. And Ukraine will be in a far worse position. Trump is annoyed with what Biden has done, he sees it as an effort to saddle Trump's terms with problems, hence he will be even more determined to cut Ukraine.

More decisive things are happening in the north. Zelensky went on a desperate begging episode to NATO to save him by admitting Ukraine into NATO so that US troops could be sent immediately to save Ukraine. The US reaction was to veto NATO membership and say there is no road map till Ukraine wins. These actions prove both Zelensky and the US know the war is lost. Ukrainians forces have been attritioned and depleted in the Donbass, so they are not in a position of mounting a significant counter offensive. Ukraine cannot push back Russia the second time, Russia will prevail.

The objective of the Kursk offensive which is unstated was to capture the Kursk nuclear power plant, and then force Russia to negotiate. It would have been difficult for Russia to risk a fight at a nuclear plant. But Kursk city was too far, and the Ukranians got bogged down in some settlements, and Russia hit the supply lines from he air. They have also now fortified the nuclear power plant. So Ukraine cannot march onto Kursk city. Meanwhile Ukraine's scarce manpower and equipment are not available for Donbass, and what it sent to Kursk is being destroyed.

  90. NATO will have to call a meeting in Spain and have a unanimous agreement. While Article 5 says an attack on one will be an attack on all, it does not say the response will be unanimous. Article 5 is written by Americans and it carefully leaves an escape clause for itself - it says members may respond as they like including and up to war. But it does not commit all members to war. If the US does not want to die, which would be the case, none of the Europeans would not have the guts to fight Russia without the US.

He had seen the Red Army was willing to take any casualties which the US army cannot. The British Defence Minister Ben Wallace said in the first month that a alliance of Britain, France and Turkey kicked the backside of the Tsar in the Crimean War in the 1850s, and it could do it again ! It struck me as vain bravado and British delusions of being a great power (a colonial nostalgia). Now the US general says the British do not have an army. They cannot afford it.   553. Ukraine has been shooting down 100% of Russian missiles, so what is the problem ? This is a low death toll. The Russians are not targeting civilians - unlike those who firebombed Germany. It is something Russia can do - a 5000 missile barrage in a short time, spaced apart a little. That would be a way to finish Kiev without a nuclear bomb. The bulk of the Russian strikes are on Ukrainian military targets. That is why Ukraine is unable to start its wretched offensive.

  554.  @Defiant1940  It is not clear Robotyne has been taken. Possibly parts are. Ukranian progress is at best attritional, we do not see any blitzkrieg or possibilities for it. Nothing is crumbling. That is wishful thinking. Ukraine is making desperate claims of progress on the front, and of curbing corruption, to keep its paymasters happy.

  555. It is clear to the US generals they cannot dislodge the Russians from the four oblasts that have become Russian. The Ukranians are unwilling to go forward without F16s ! That will be next year, if at all. Meanwhile, the Russians will slaughter the Bandera army.

  560. The best way to end the war is for the US is to give an assurance that it will not seek to put missile and naval bases in the Ukraine. Otherwise, there is no way Russia will give back the four oblasts, and it will continue to neutralise the rest of Ukraine.

  561. The first time I am seeing Sean Bell giving a realistic picture without too much spin ! He admits the counter offensive is not going anywhere. For the last 2 weeks, he and other western media were talking about capture of Robotyne and Ukranians breaching the Surovokin line and marching towards Sea of Azov. Independent analysts like Macgregor, Scott Ritter, Mercouris have correctly predicted the outcome of the counter offensive since June. The govt. aligned media of the west were spinning narratives not to undermine western govt. efforts to defeat Russia. The change in tone in the western media signifies they realise Ukraine and the west are defeated. It will not be a frozen conflict as Bell now hopes. To bring the war to an end, the US has to agree and give a written confirmation that there will be no NATO bases in Ukraine. In a previous report, Bell said Ukraine is tackling corruption in its MOD for the time it joins NATO. Ukraine will not be allowed to join NATO. Russia will keep the war going so Ukraine cannot join NATO. This has not dawned still on the western brain. This is the cause for conflict. The war can come to an end and everyone can participate in reconstruction but only on condition that Ukraine returns to the neutrality of its independence declaration.

  562. Look at who is taking. When Ukraine and Russia reached a deal in Turkey to end the war after 2 months, Boris Johnson went and told Zelensky to scrap it. In the 1990s, James Baker had said that NATO will not expand one inch to the east - and then expanded. From Russia's view, the west cannot be trusted. The west's 'genuine peace' means Russia should have a ruler like Zelensky who will give away 30% of its agricultural lands (like Ukraine has done) and mineral and energy resources to US companies. Then it will be branded as a country that follows western values. But Russia is a power in its own right, it is not a vassal of the US like Sunak's country.
