  1. Well if General Patton fought the Red Army, his army would have been mauled. Towards the end of the war, British Gen. Montgomery suggested in typical British fashion why they did not make for Berlin. Gen. Eisenhower was not going to buy into that. He said the Red Army was charging on Berlin, they would start shooting at the Americans if they tried to stop them. I am sure Patton also knew. The Russians fight hard and are ready to take casualties, the Americans are not ready for that.
