  1. ​ @mermadone6465 The US was reluctantly drawn into WW1 & 2 in Europe, not because they wanted to assist the Allies, but because they had to. After WW2 the US rationally thought that if they have to fight Russia, then they would have to station equipment and men in Europe and if they were going to do that then the US may as well be in charge. Hence NATO is formed and the US calls all of the important shots. Now we have Russia in Ukraine and without NATO equipment (90% of which is used and about to be scrapped) they would have succeeded in taking the whole country. So why should the USA care? Well, Putin has stated that after Ukraine comes the whole of the former Warsaw Pact. Theses countries are all in NATO and if Russia invades we get a nuclear WW3, which no one on earth can avoid. That's why the USA is giving Ukraine support. Unfortunately most people find this scenario too complex to understand which is why I'm grateful to have intelligent people in our military.   2. Exactly. And it may take a lot of Saudi refineries being destroyed by Iran for the Saudis to accept a deal that satisfies the USA. So it's in the US's interests to not make a deal now, rather someone should behind the scenes give Iran the green light for hostilities. 😉

  6. Nah, demand is reducing due to a global economic slowdown. Besides you can't trust the Saudis to do what they say, not to mention the rest of OPEC. But I agree, if the USA agrees to provide protection to SA then the USA gets to dictate production. Security for a degree of independence and sovereignty. Simple.

  11. Isolationism has always been a dream of the USA, but they have never managed to pull it off. Reality bites and the US gets involved in this war or that war. If the US goes home then eventually Russia will use nuclear weapons to take what it wants from Europe. Would the US be happy with nuclear war in Europe? Nope. Does the US want to let China take Taiwan, South Korea and Japan eventually? Nope. Like I said, reality bites. All the best.
