@bipl8989 As a Brit I am sure that the UK would not, at least not under the current government, defend anyone from a nuclear attack using her nuclear weapons and that includes defending herself. We have never had a government as weak. At least Chamberlain was re-arming.

Norway and Finland will try to hide behind Sweden. Germany may talk, but won't act. Romania can't afford nuclear weapons and neither can Ukraine. That just leaves Poland and Sweden. Neither wants to be first to abandon the Non-Proliferation Treaty. No one knows what the political consequences would be of its abandonment. Would the US leave NATO? Would Russia attack? If either country did abandon the treaty, then ideally they would be able to show Russia that they had several hundred working and deliverable nuclear weapons ready to be used the next day. That's a tall order. It's a very tricky situation.
