They bring "challenges".

I questioned his statement too.

Chinese EVs don't need to be equal to Western EVs though. All cars are currently too expensive and Chinese EVs are more affordable because their labour cost is lower. If their labour costs go up then China will devalue their currency. So in the next decade almost all cars will be produced in China because they have a structural advantage. The reason why China wants us to buy their products is that the CCP fears only one thing - the Chinese people, so they will not allow high unemployment. Also if our society will stop functioning because we can't make anything anymore then China has political influence over us. What you say would be correct if all transactions were happening inside a single country. You've heard of "War is politics by other means"? Well, tariffs are a political tool too.

Does the wind blow all the time?

It depends entirely on how often the batteries need replacing and how much that costs. An ICE vehicle doesn't need to replace the fuel tank... ever. Currently there is no question that batteries are too expensive to replace. Also, all EV makers say that their batteries last longer than they actually do and they simply can't be trusted whatsoever. Still, I doubt that EVs will ever be cheaper than ICE vehicles if actually comparing like for like.

@magellannh645 Are grid scale batteries currently available?

@wisenber Bear in mind that Argentina has constant high inflation as a result of unsustainable government debt (since about the end of WW2?). In the first half of the 20th century Argentina was an economic powerhouse. It's amazing how politicians can screw everything up. I had huge hopes for Milei, but then he didn't shut down the Argentine Central Bank, so it doesn't matter how well he does because the next regime will just borrow like crazy. 😢

@ingusmant What is the literacy rate in Germany?

@whitescar2 Are you including new arrivals or do you mean that they can read some language, just not necessarily German?

@MDK-c4x Are interconnected electrical grid robust compared with national ones though? For instance are interconnected systems more vulnerable to cyber attacks? Also if there is a shortage then which country is prioritised - has this ever happened in Europe? France recently had to reduce the energy produced by their nuclear power plants because it would impact the temperature of the river water.

100% 👍

@protorhinocerator142 I wouldn't say that it was an outcome of socialism at all. The energy decisions in Germany have been highly influenced by Russian propaganda. Russia has since the end of the Cold War been waging a propaganda war against nuclear power. Russia is a major exporter of hydrocarbons and nuclear power reduces demand for oil and gas. Russia wants Europe to be dependent on Russia for political reasons. Lavrentiy Beria when head of the NKVD (later the KGB) famously asked Soviet scientists to come up with reasons why nuclear technologies were bad in order to scare the West from using them - they theorised that nuclear war could cause a Nuclear Winter, but there has never been any validation of this concept, yet politically it worked. Later the German Green Party was heavily influenced by Russian propaganda and likely funded by them too. They essentially condemn all forms of carbon emissions without providing any alternative solutions. IMHO their energy policies are completely unrealistic and will impoverish Germany. Thankfully support today for the Green Party is fast falling. The EU has recently also made it impossible to build any new nuclear power plants by making it a requirement for there to be absolutely ZERO risk from a nuclear facility regardless of circumstances. I am sure any fool could think of many situations which could pose some risk. The EU has used covert ingenuous bureaucratic means to completely halt the construction of any new nuclear reactors in all of the EU. (As an aside, I used to live in Germany and find it very interesting how, up until now at least, they are probably more easily influenced by such propaganda than most other countries. A German national trait is that they are extremely law abiding and love rules/laws. All that is required to get the German people to do something is to enshrine it in law. The Russians managed exactly this with Net Zero, while also getting them to reject nuclear energy!) All the best.

The dashboard in a Tesla is a display centered between the two front seats, correct? Is that better than the traditional location in front of the driver?

@pavolhorvath7850 You can't argue with religion.

@Twiggorized I wonder if Germany will go back to buying cheap Russian gas the minute that the Ukraine war ends though? Honestly it wouldn't surprise me.

Is it currently legal to sell new ICE vehicles in Norway?

I have heard that German energy statistics are highly "creative". Do you trust your government to tell the truth? This is a genuine question. I wonder about that 63% claim. Here's why. Wind and solar power are not consistent. Some days there's no wind or sun and every single night there is no sun. Could it be that Germany has 63% CAPACITY in wind and solar? It would be very interesting to know. Thanks. 👍

Are the emissions from manufacturing counted?

@arekkusub6877 31%, 27% commented by someone else. On a different thread for this video someone quoted that wind and solar was 63% combined. Lots of different answers. Do you trust your government to tell the truth? This is a genuine question.
