The US has a very long history of dealing with today's problems today and leaving tomorrows problems for tomorrow. Although this strategy has its downsides, it has been very successful and arguably is a very efficient use of resources. All the best.

@josephkozak9642 The US will never allow China to expand. They would become too much of a threat to the world. I'm quite sure that if China ever invaded a neighbouring country it would result in war. A war which China would inevitably loose at great cost. Unfortunately the benefits for China would be great as you stated and I don't think that they would be able to resist. All the best.

@josephkozak9642 No, I totally disagree. The only reason that China is tolerated by the US is because China is extremely vulnerable to US power. The reason for this weakness is due to the limitations of Chinese geography. If this ever changed in China's favour then the US would have to react before China could consolidate. The US would not wait for China to become an actual super power, the US would fabricate a reason go to war over this in a heartbeat. Currently the USA could defeat China with a naval blockade to stop the flow of oil from the Middle East with extraordinary ease. Within a year due to starvation China as a state would not even exist and hundreds of millions of people there would die. And this would result in a much better outcome by any metric anyone cares to judge it by than letting China rise to parity or beyond with America and the resultant nuclear WW3. I sincerely doubt that there ever will be such a direct conflict between the two nations however, as I see China's power as already having peaked. China is turning inward in this decline as it always has.
