@ronniemead805 Rebellious? Rebellious was going out with my friends to London and coming home one hour after my curfew. Rebellious was staying over at a friend's house even though my parents didn't agree to it. Rebellious is maybe getting into a fight and being sent to detention. Rebellious is not doing as your told in school or by your parents and ending up punished. What 'normally' rebellious 13 year old runs away and goes into prostitution?

Smoking crack whilst pregnant and the destiny of the child is already decided, as she'll give it away for adoption? And you're liking her / finding her to be humble? Really?

@effie7362 he's a film maker. Not a psychologist / therapist / social worker.

@justmetoo6067 shitty end of the stick. who made her bring two kids into this world and then leave them discarded?

Correction 00:48 Churchill didn't call Italy the soft underbelly. The soft underbelly was the Ottoman Empire, that had been in decline for decades. The double dealing on the part of the british and French that mainly involved concession in land being given to the Italians as well as the Russians in return for allying with them instead of the central powers, is ultimately what allowed the allies to turn the tide. The pan-arabism movement was encouraged and this resulted in the Arabs declaring war on the ottoman rulers.

@effie7362 He definitely isn't treating them badly. he is trying to shoot a film and unfortunately, the people have clearly got conditions that doesn't allow them to communicate properly. He tries hard to communicate with one gentleman who can't talk but just makes noises. He isn't rude to them, isn't abrupt and it is mentioned in the description that he paid them and bought them food. He is trying to make a film. it seems that access to this family is restricted. What is he going to do? camp outside for weeks in order to 'gain their trust'? They aren't some indigenous group in the jungle. They're just humans with underlying conditions that don't enable them to communicate.

@effie7362 this man has produced multiple short films that you can watch along with this one! Films with former convicts, drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes etc! I've yet to watch one in which he doesn't treat them with respect and indifference and this video is no different! That poor family have underlying issues that unfortunately stops them from being able to answer the simplest of questions. One lady is almost mute, one answers when spoken to and Ray even goes outside to show the filmmaker the disturbed piece of land! You can see the excitement on Ray's face when he's being spoken to! I don't see rudeness, I don't see the lack of compassion and I certainly don't see anything that would seem untowards. Theroux makes documentaries in which he spends days with a particular group! But even he comes across some tricky situations in which he is challenged and seems out of his depth! But that isn't necessarily a judgement of character or lacking in empathy. He has been allowed all but a short time to speak to these people! In that time, he paid them and also bought them food! Judging from the conditions in which they live, that seems to be a lot more than what most people have ever done for them, including the government.

No, she wouldn't. She is far too selfish and self serving to make a life change and actually for someone / something. 2 children already discarded and the 3rd to follow.
3
The questions are generally poor. Either too close ended or putting words in their mouths. Ask the question and let them talk, instead of giving them potential answers whilst asking the questions.
3
I don't think he has spoken a meaningful sentence since childhood. All I heard was meaningless cliches, self promotion and a whole bunch of nothings.

Please don't use Churchill as some sort of a wonderful historical figure, to highlight social injustice. He has the blood of millions of Indians on his hands. He is directly responsible for the bengal famine of 1943, that killed around 3 million people.

And what 'facts' are those, exactly? Don't confuse YouTube opinions for facts, fella. Not quite what constitutes as 'facts' in the real world.

We have deprivation in the UK, but nothing remotely on this level. This is like some Dickensian level poverty not seen here for 200 years. And I'm not even referring to their mental conditions. How could one of the richest countries in the world allow for such innocent and vulnerable people to live like this? It's utterly inhumane.

He looks like Usain Bolt gone bad...very bad.

I misread it as 'ex pat' worker and was left terribly disappointed.

Is there actual proof that he was convicted of numerous violent crimes? I just got the feeling that he was just looking for attention and making things up as he went along.
1
By far the most telling statement he made during the entire piece concerns his comments about love. What that tells me is that I believe he fell in love with a non white person. You can see it in his eyes and the way he explains it. That isn't someone speaking from theory. He experienced it and by the looks of it, still loves that person.

A beautiful soul uses drugs whilst pregnant? Really? I understand the prostitution but she cares for no one other than herself. 2 children brought into the world that she contributes nothing towards and now a third that will go straight into adoption. beautiful soul indeed.

A man minding his own business waiting at the bus stop going to work, gets shot, left with permanent disabilities from which he lost an eye and can't see well out of the other is left homeless and begging on the street? How does this happen?
1
Sad? it's abhorrent. it's disgusting. it's careless. It's careless, carefree and totally lacking in responsibility. She's a disgrace.
1
@godidontknow Two children discarded. That is two lives needlessly affected / scarred forever. And now, whilst still using drugs, she is pregnant. Does she plan to care for that child? of course not. Will she pick up the pieces? of course not.
1
Very sweet indeed. Discarding two babies and a third to follow. That's what sweet and caring people do.
1
@effie7362 the only one ranting here is you! You're the one with issues and have a unilateral mindset when it comes to interpreting a situation that you were not party to! You're speaking like you're the representative of the family and had rejected this filmmaker seeing the family and that somehow he went against your wishes.

@carlosgoncalves8485 such unbelievable levels of double standard and hypocrisy. You love watching people being interviewed when in a manic state, post being beaten up or a person with half of their face blown off, but filming a family with mental conditions isn't. This man isn't a psychologist. Nor is he a therapist to go and read whatever book you recommended. Like the other people who you've loved being entertained by, he's paid them, they agreed to be filmed and that's what he did. You're crying foul at one but entertained by the other. Comical.
1
@carlosgoncalves8485 You must've had the video on mute or are deaf. He consistently tries to communicate with them by asking them questions. They are clearly not able to communicate in a manner you'd consider normal and hence the one sided interaction. But he repeatedly asks questions and when one of the men wants to go and show him something, he follows him and again is inquisitive and asks him questions, despite the man not actually being able to answer bar making noises and nodding. Creepy? That's exactly it. YOU are the one who's finding an issue with the video. As someone who has been exposed with people with varying mental conditions, this is not creepy at all. I've spent time with people who don't even acknowledge your presence regardless of what you do, say and how many times you see them. You're finding a film of a family with mental issues 'creepy' and yet don't find the filming of a severely disfigured man creepy or the fact he interviewed a person who was in a manic state. Either be appalled universally or shut the fuck up. The very fact you referred to these innocent and vulnerable people as 'creepy' says more about you than them or the filmmaker.
1
@carlosgoncalves8485 Unbelievable ignorance. Almost shameless. I'm 'people'! I'm a person and I don't find it creepy at all. I found it heartbreaking that such vulnerable people could be living and be allowed to live in such squaller in one of the richest countries on earth. That's how shock filmmaking works. It is supposed to encourage questions and bring on abhorrence to encourage change as well as understanding and tolerance. How these ideals went over head is quite tragic. Real life and struggles cannot be sugar coated. Someone, some people, a group, a charity, a housing association or even a political movement might see this video and be disgusted enough that they do something for this vulnerable family. You want sugar coating and drawn curtains, go and watch a romance film or the theatre.
1
@carlosgoncalves8485 All of his videos follow pretty much the same format. People dragged in off the streets and paid to be interviewed. The reason you're finding this clip particularly 'offensive' like the others on here is because this time....this time, you were not entertained. When you and your 'soft white underbellied' lot watch the ones with drug or alcohol issues or even the prostitutes, you're entertained. you go away with the satisfaction that your life isn't as bad. but in this case, the feeling of disgust and abhorrence overcomes you and guilt spills out in completely the wrong way. Instead of sheer disgust about the conditions these people find themselves in, you're concentrating on someone to blame. And the person you're blaming is not responsible. You are from the same group as those who found it abhorrent when a cameraman would send back images from places effected by famine. Aw how could they just film whilst a baby is suffering? The filmmaker is not their saviour. There are many more families like them who should be treated better.

the onus was on you to highlight the so called 'facts'! Well done on just copying my rhetoric! Use your brain!

@colinboynton-westney8866 Failed at comprehension did you? During the 1st world war, Italy changed sides as the allies offered it a part of Anatolia in exchange for allegiance. Go and sit in a corner and play with your toys.

Really sweet indeed. Laughs about smoking crack whilst 4 months pregnant and has already discarded 2 children. She cares for no one but herself.
1
@Rachelprideaux Very smart response. Someone rightfully disagrees with your softly softly bullshit, and you call them a troll?

10:20. Did he really just say 'a woman pregnant with a black guy working the streets that not...' in response to his own question regarding the worst period of her life? I fully sympathise and appreciate that she was raped, but why bring the colour of the rapist into it as if to highlight and magnify the seriousness of her situation?
