Those 'snazzy' wheels look OK until he put the roof down. With the roof down, they look so out of place on that car 😂 Sometimes it takes someone else showing you around a car to actually appreciate its beauty. Underrated design, but I probably would ignore it if I walked past it in the street. Bar the scabs, someone should end up buying and enjoying that car. Sometimes I feel jealous of kids growing up now and getting to passing their test age. That car would've been brand new when I passed my test at 17. I would've been ecstatic to have been able to pick up an old car like that for £1,500. Instead, I was stuck with my mum's old 1991 red Nissan micra.

@rob5944 Can't imagine a 20 year old car would be too expensive. I mean at 17, you'd expect the insurance to be hiked anyway. Most kids in my year had their parents buy them brand new Corsa's and Clio's. My parents whilst both surgeons never ever entertained spoiling us. My dad said if I get straight A's at A level, then I could have any brand new car I want. I got straight A's, and he said he was joking 😩 nearly 20 years later though, I managed to get an Audi e ton GT through his NHS leasing.

@rob5944 To be honest, fella. I've never bought a car from new either. In fact, for most of my adult life, I've not had a car. Usually use the DLR and or my bicycle to commute into St. Paul's. It was only a little while ago that my dad made me aware of NHS fleet solutions, and how we could get a car on lease! They fit the charger for free&the cost includes insurance and service. It just seemed like a no brainer. I doubt my first car, the 1991 micra was even worth £100. But it allowed me to learn to drive, so can't complain! thank you for the good wishes! You're right. Better not to make promises than to make them and not keep. I understood the lesson they were teaching us as kids. Not to be materialistic etc. But you know how it is in school, and kids. Suddenly mates are having cars bought for them, and you're getting teased for still peddling a push bike everywhere haha.

@rob5944 Sorry to hear that you've been unwell. I hope you make a speedy recovery. I understand what you mean. In the north, the infrastructure when it comes to public transport is poor. Most of my colleagues in Manchester and Leeds offices heavily rely on cars to get around. The college I went to for my A-levels also had me take a one hour long bus from locksbottom to tunbridge. It only came once every hour, and you were screwed if you missed it especially on dark and cold winter evenings. But when it came to my younger sisters, my parents have literally acted like their chauffeurs 😂 The micra was indeed very reliable and cheap to run. In areas of the country where you can't really rely on public transport, a reliable car is critical.

@rob5944 Yes, I agree. My mum commutes between Kent and Essex NHS and private hospitals. She wouldn't be able to do it without the use of a car. We have got her an electric, because her weekly petrol consumption being so high. Though we could only do that through the electric charger being installed at home. Not really a realistic option for many people who like myself lives in the city and don't have a drive.
