@knockitoffhudson they are very good indeed! But not world class! Nowhere near that level! If they did, they'd beat a decent team for once! These were the same bunch who were put into a tough nations league group, and couldn't win a game in 6 matches. So bad that they got relegated.

@MatthewMcRowan A manager is usually a reflection of the team at his disposal. Southgate up to an extent has actually done the best he could with England. when you don't have creative players and poor defenders, it is difficult to be dominant. he made England boring but difficult to beat. But you need more than that to beat the top footballing nations.

@ashdonn6493 They had a tough nations league group containing the european champs, Germany and Hungary. IF they were really that good, they'd have highlighted it. Instead what happened? ZERO wins in 6 and relegation. Top players turn up for the big moments. Kane - zero goals and zero assists in euro final, champ league final, and league cup final. Just like Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney etc, their qualities are made to look better when playing with superior foreign players. pile together with England and you see that more times than not, they're maybe just above average.

@knockitoffhudson whether you call them world class or top class, they need to show it. The teams that win tournaments nearly always overcome at least one or two setbacks. BUT. They overcome them. Look at Spain in 2010. they lost their first game, but they found a way. Top class players find a way.

When it comes to knockout 50/50 matches, there is a factor that is far more important than tactics. FIGHT! SACRIFICE! WILL TO GO THE EXTRA YARD!! Taking responsibility! Individuals standing up to be counted. England haven't had any of these qualities since 1966. They don't have the bravery to overcome a genuine hurdle.
