Most of the good English players aren't English and vast majority of French players aren't French. So what if he was Colombian? Ecuador offered him nationality and that makes him eligible to play.

@realeyes2458 I really don't understand the controversy! People immigrate all the time and get given new nationality! Raheem sterling was born in Jamaica and his entire family is Jamaican! Does that mean he's also breaking the law playing for England? This is just all nonsense! Seems more like a vendetta!

@mrnumba154 fake passport or not, the country allowed him to play! It isn't the national team's fault when fielding someone who they thought is from their country! That's unless its proven that they used him whilst knowing he didn't qualify!

They're only 'English' until they miss a penalty and then of course as we saw in euro final, they become non English very quickly in the eyes of the fans 🤣

@matthewvaughan8192 But that isn't the fault of the Ecuadorian FA, unless they are complicit in knowing that he had forged documents to gain citizenship. Mo Farah has been found to have been smuggled into the UK illegally, and Mo Farah isn't actually his real name. Will people turn around and ask that his olympics and world championship medals be revoked because he gained citizenship illegally through smuggling and using the name of another child?

@bountylad however it seems, the national team clearly allowed him to play! It isn't their fault and it would seem ridiculous if they have to pay for how the player went about gaining citizenship!

@arizonamcguinness1597 the point is that rice and Kane are fully Irish and grealish is also of Irish descent! They are British nationals but judging from the ability of Kane, saka, sterling and tomori, they're definitely not English! The best the English can produce is harry Maguire

@arizonamcguinness1597 it isn't so much the distinction of morning or night but more the lack of brain cells in your case! I'm saying that just because someone is born somewhere doesn't automatically make them from there! Numerous British born footballers represent the country of their parents and heritage! Same way rice and grealish did for Ireland! The whole point of my comment was that even if this guy is Colombian, he was granted eligibility by the country he represents, and so its a non story!

@bakedbeans5494 Have you been hiding in a hole for the past year? Mo Farah is not his real name. It is the name of the kid on who's passport Mo Farah was smuggled into the UK with. So that means the citizenship was gained fraudulently as Farah knew he was not Farah. Your knowledge is horrendous. He obtained British citizenship in July 2000 under the name Mohamed Farah. These aspects of his background were not made public until July 2022,[8] and a barrister told him that there was a risk that he might lose his British nationality as it was obtained by misrepresentations; the Home Office, however, assured him that he would not face any repercussions

@orwellboy1958 It has everything to do with football. as in how fluid it is taking in players who aren't necessarily from a specific country, but can still represent them. Tomori for example plays for my club. he doesn't play like the English style. He might play for England but he isn't an English style defender. Declan rice another one. Ireland have produced players like Keane and Liam Brady. Rice doesn't play like an archetypal English player.
