Kevin Parker is spot on. Manchester as a city's population is just over 550K. It isn't a city with the population of London, Milan, Paris, Barcelona or Madrid. He is absolutely right in that given when city's winning cycle started, they're still at a pretty fledgeling stage of attracting tourist 'fans'. As an Italian who lives between London and Milan, I have been to Old Trafford 3 times to see my team vs Manchester United. Whenever I got to speak to so called Man Utd fans, they were all non locals. A lot of Irish and London sounding people. Man City will fortunately/unfortunately get fans that are your so called glory hunters. But given the TV coverage, at this stage, the glory hunters are not partizan enough to travel for midweek games. That's why their midweek attendances are more realistic. Their supporters also being traditionally working class people will also mean they're effected by the cost of attending games as well.

@davidneedham4890 Chelsea exist in a huge city with a population of nearly 9 million people. Not sure how one can respect Chelsea and not man city. Chelsea is owned by a convicted criminal.

@branthall1787 I'm not saying that there aren't plastic fanatics of every club. Of course there is. In all of the years of attending games, Old Trafford is by far the worst. It really is a place that lacks true soul.

@Shaunwallace111 we hardly heard them. Just quiet and silence and only a bit of excitement when their team had the ball. It just made me appreciate my home stadium so much. Plastic Irish and London accented people in old Trafford. weird place. Milan. When they came to San Siro, their pocket of fans were a bit better to be honest.

@Shaunwallace111 2005, 2007 and 2010. The 3 times we played them in the champions league. Out of all of the English teams, going to Portsmouth was by far the best. Not a good stadium, but incredible fans. I went to liverpool on Wednesday and that was really great too. Real fans.
