Regrettably, in many cases, there isn't an underlying, existing, or congenital condition. These things can develop under certain conditions in a normal person, even if that person is a supremely fit athlete. All it takes is an inflammation or something circumstantial for it to occur. Italy has very strict laws around heart screening. There is no way Eriksen would've gone thru medicals at Ajax, Spurs, and then the Italian Olympic federation and not have had an existing condition undetected. His health and safety going forward is paramount, but the chances of him ever making it back onto the pitch here in Italy are worse than zero.
