What people don't understand is that pressure was even put on the French government to come out and state that they preferred Mbappe stays at PSG. What that means is that the owners of PSG clearly have lobbying power which is most certainly because of their investment in France on a whole? Mbappe certainly doesn't lose out monetarily, but this wasn't just his decision. Football is a shady business these days.

@abumansaray7 he would've received a sign on fee in excess of one hundred million and also a massive salary from real Madrid! What real Madrid weren't prepared to do was give him whatever it is he wanted in terms of not only on the pitch, but also decision making powers! Soon after he was declared to stay, Leonardo was sacked! But of course this is a club that was already in breach of ffp rules so god knows what else he has been given or promised behind the scenes!
