Son to two surgeons and a GP sister. Whilst my parents aren't complaining about their pay and we know we are lucky, both of them are literally working 6 day weeks to keep up with demand. My sister who previously used to work in A&E is constantly being offered locum jobs and asked to go in at weekends. Over the past decades, their hours have increased, and yet the tories have continued to chip away at their pensions. The whole clapping circus on Thursday nights was not only embarrassing, but pretty offensive as well. For that even then, nurses and many critical workers in the public sector were not being paid in line with the cost of living. Be it the taking away of bursaries or not recruiting enough, people seemed more interested in partaking in a completely meaningless exercise than actually standing up for health workers. And now that they've reached the end of their tether, the politicians and media are attacking them left, right and centre. The very fact that Piers Morgan is paid handsomely for being a career nonsense talker whilst we fight for nurses is a terrible indictment of our society. The fact that someone talentless motormouth is living a life of luxury whilst actual hardworking people have to worry about paying their bills. Shame on you.
