@Feyser1970 Exactly, even Chinese upper class people don't buy domestic brands because they know how bad they are. So what's his point? You can't trust a guy who calls himself Ahmed who is actually Chinese LOL

@mingyuegao9050 sure, all the BYD owner groups in China post lots of videos which gets removed rapidly complain about range fraud, lots of quality issues. Sure Tesla is cheaper in China because they build the low end model Y for example. Only China builds the 2 wheel drive version.

@zzz-hf5mb well for the ultra rich, it's not about the quality of the product. Sometimes it's about the price of a product or the exclusivity of it. The higher price means they can buy it and you can't. So it's entirely possible that if some China brand comes out with a 10 million RMB car, someone will actually buy it. Whether or not people will ridicule him behind his back is a whole other matter. However there will be no shortage of little pinks who will sing his praises

The reason Tesla factory was built and supported by all levels of govt in China is because they want to lure in Elon with the goal of taking over Tesla's technology and hopefully SpaceX as well. And now you have seen the BYD, the result says it all. Copy Copy Clone... repeat...

@BenJamin-iy9qy I'm not arguing there are EV graveyards in China nor that BYD user groups file reliability claims such as air bags not working, fake range etc

JerryM-wt8hl that's called the patriot tax lol

@XkMeng then explain why your dear princess bought a Rolls-Royce Cullinan? And why every successful social media person from China use iPhone?
1
@XkMeng that may be true until you realize some Huawei phones now cost more than some iPhones while providing a weaker experience. And this has resulted in some mainlanders calling it a patriotic tax.

@XkMeng before the sanctions Huawei was always a premium brand. The lower level locals that worked for our company bought mostly OPPO, Xiaomi etc. A few had iPhone gifted to them from their BF. Huawei especially the flagship was always a premium brand in China
