@magi115 what people fail to realize is that even if 0.1% are super wealthy, you're still talking about 1.4 million people. And then you concentrate them in tier one cities so it appears to the untrained eyes as if everyone is super rich. And then the real estate fueled spending where people borrowed against the perceived value of their property only for the tofu buildings to collapse both physically and financially. When you look at the per capita GDP and average salary, you realize it's all a facade

@eragonfreedman9228 little known fact in China is the way wages are paid. Cuz migrant workers get housing and food from their employers, it's not uncommon for their employers to play bankers and 'safeguard' their salary till year end when they travel home for the lunar new year. And this opens up an opportunity for unscrupulous owners who run away. So basically he got free labor for the whole year

@hebrewyisraeliteyahawadahite true but it'll cost the govt to crush unrest if the people are starving

@mauryeetss3561 that's precisely what they have been telling them to do currently. During Wuhan virus, err Covid, govt told them to go get master/PhD... Now they tell them to go home and be a full time child. During Mao's days he forced doctors etc to go to the farm and many succumbed to the hardship. I mean, these were nerds basically. They're not physically fit enough to do hard labor. Add to that insufficient food in times of famine. Now there is no famine.. But it is better to spread the highly educated youth across the land instead of having them sit unemployed in major cities where they can easily organize a rally...
