This is obviously fake news. The ships were not absent, they were using Star Trek cloaking technology that is decades ahead of stealth technologies. Or PLA were doing their "training exercise" on another server, and western media didn't log into the same server?

@MrNoneofthisisreal experience obviously counts but if their goal is to get information.. It's just like industrial espionage where rival companies can gather info by just hanging out at coffee shops, bars and restaurants frequented by their competition. Small pieces of puzzle is all they need each time. Having former top guns teaching a course, ply them with some alcohol.. I'm sure they got more than what's in the course description
