@danieljohnson2005 of course not, they're only taught about the great accomplishments. Anything remotely negative is blamed on either the west or the Taiwan govt or in the case of flooding caused by ignoring their own scientists as a once in 1000 Year event.. And if it repeats again they'll call it once in 100....10... Etc. Funny thing about historic preservation. While traveling in the country I came across a historic gazebo. According to a local, this was "Destroyed" in WW2, then it was rebuilt in Concrete by the govt. And when I was there it was in the middle of being rebuilt yet again... A local businessman had donated money to have it built in wood like it should have been in the first place! So yea, even if culture was "preserved" it's altered. But that's what happens when you purge all the scholars. You have no knowledge whatsoever to govern from. Over time, some of the students do learn the truth but it'll be hard to accept it. Someone suggested I watch To Live (1994 movie staring Gong Li) it was internationally acclaimed but these days you won't be able to watch it in China.
