  1. @kennith234 Your exactly right about solar panels. They are not a magical solution to anything. I have had them for years and there is not a chance they will the grid. Particularly in a colder climate where it is cloudy and it snows.

  2. I have both solar panels and a small wind generator with battery storage. There isn't a chance this will power the grid. Does the sun shine all the time? Does the wind blow all the time? Even on a perfect day there isn't a good way yet to store the excess power produced. Battery technology is sadly lacking it really hasn't advanced that much. You can argue that your doing more environmentally damage with this green nonsense when compared to standard energy production. If you want to fool around with solar panels, go ahead but they are not a magical solution. Your being lied to about green energy production.
