  5. No, because they didn’t want to be paid. The slave owners wanted to keep their slaves and expand slavery into the new territories so that way they could keep making money. So no we couldn’t have just paid them, because they didn’t want to be paid. And frankly the government probably couldn’t afford to buy all of the slaves at market value.

That’s part of the reason why the Founding Fathers ditched those and replaced them with the constitution which made a stronger federal government. It has to do with the cause of the war and the motivations of the Confederacy, which was the defense of slavery, and many Southerns, including those who were too poor to afford one supported it. Slaves were beaten, and raped, and even killed without impunity by their owners, whenever their owners wished. Any family that whips the flesh off the backs of their children the way masters did to their slaves would have their children taken away from them and they would be thrown in prison. Tell me you said that you would not want to be a slave yourself. So why are you defending slavery? Why is slavery being morally ok the hill you’re going to die on when yourself recognize that you wouldn’t want to be slave? Are you just a racist pos or something?
