TheArklyte If anything people are moving away from non-AR designs to AR designs, notably the HK 416. And the G36 is chambered in 5.56 as well. Grow up.

The hell are you on? The HK 416 is clearly an AR 15 variant, while the G36 is based off of the AR 18. Two completely different designs dude. As for 5.56 its a fine round perfect for it's intended range, which is roughly two hundred meters. Grow up man.

john peck Old WW2 sniper rifles and scopes saw a fair amount of use in Vietnam.

Dave ofOz The Brits obviously found them to do well enough.

TheArklyte There’s more to a weapon than just the gas system dammit.

Axel A lot cheaper o use guns you already have than to buy new ones.

Dave ofOz Seems to have done the job for them. I mean the US military continued to use the 1903 for decades after WW1

Dave ofOz For the type of work men where doing with these rifles you didn’t need a target rifle man. These guys weren’t making mile long shots. Hell the White Death rarely made shots beyond three hundred meters. And even then the 1903 is still essentially an obsolete 19th century rifle.

Yah, and the Brits didn't have stocks of hunting rifles, they had stocks of Enfields. It served it's purpose and they used what they had.

Militaries don't work on what is the bets, they work with what is good enough for cheap. Why buy brand new rifles when you can use ones you already have? And I see that've gone from the irrational love many have to an irrational hatred.

ToastyMozart As compared to American revolver production being neutered for a decade because of Smith and Wesson owning the patents to bored through cylinders.
