Yep, some european people complain about economy immigration right know, but in the future everything is head for a much worse scenario. With climate change and a huge african population of almost 2 billion, I can see massive invasion of people happening towards Europe because of climate disasters, lack of water, or just political or military turmoil in general. The future of Europe with a shrinking population and being "open" for immigration will be a complete disaster.

You should feel the contrary, it's good to share the task of raising children with your extended family.

No, the shrinking population is a problem by itself, it creates a cascade of bad developments for society, the dependence ratio to support the pension system is only the most obvious of them. With a small population even the lack of good engineers or doctors can become a problem, contrary to expectation the rates of disruptive innovations is already at a historically low and with a even smaller population great disruptive innovations will probably become even rarer.

@domcizek Yep, it would never work because the problem is not really about the economy or lack of resources, it's a cultural and lifestyle issue associated with individualism, feminism and women choices.

@DiogoSantos-ix5sl Exactly, these people are crazy they really think that in 2100 we will have advanced robots to take care of all the elderly people IoI With a massive population decline there's even a risk of not having enough engineers, doctors, etc, let alone having advanced robots.
2
@chriswatson1698 An elderly person cost much more than a bay, it's not even comparable, I don't think you have any idea of how much it cost in money and human resources to take care of a sick elderly person.
2
@lucindabreeding Yes, they are wrong and shortsighted.

It will not happen before 2200, keep dreaming. The basic technology of transmitting electromagnetic pulses was already know in 1910 but it has taken almost 80 years to cellphones to be developed and popularized. Advanced robots with realistic AI that could take appropriate care of an elderly human is a much much harder task to develop, we don't even have the most basic technology for this yet, there's so many challenges, without any unexpected energy revolution it will probably take 200 to 300 years to reach a stage where everyone can have an advanced AI robot, and there's a chance of this never happening.

@jaykay5142 No, it's not about the economy have you all watched the video and his documentary? In Hungary they tried to give a generous amount of money and other benefits to families to have more sons and it failed. The problem is cultural and about lifestyle and choices.
