It's strange that you say this because for me, as a brazilian guy, I would say that brazilian women in general and specially the younger generation are also very critical and acidic about men, and this has become more intense in the last years thanks to feminism. You just have to look in the brazilian Twitter or in popular tv shows like BBB or "Casamento as Cegas", etc, the whole culture that is presented is basically a feminist narrative that preaches that men are sexist and "dumb" by default and women are more capable and should take the lead, etc. This type of thinking is pervasive in the entire brazilian mainstream culture.
Also, even though american women in general may be more "cold" in their treatment of men, I can say that some brazilian women by contrast can be extremely possessive and clingy, and having a lot of emotional instability and aggression, to the point of even being a physical treat, so things are not so good if you have to deal with this type of environment everyday. All things considered I don't think brazilian men on average have it any better when it comes to the quality of their relationships in comparison with guys from the US or other developed countries, the challenges are slightly different, but in general women here follow the same feminist agenda, and have the same nonsensical complaints that are present everywhere.

@josevitor1759 No, I know quite well what a hispanic is, and Brazil is not a Latino country, we share very little in cultural terms with countries surrounding us, actually the culture of Brazil is closer in it's structure to US than to Colombia or Venezuela for instance, the vision that Latin Americans are very similar to each other, all hot blooded and with extravagant parties and such is a stereotype created to lump together all the "brown" people that are not anglo-saxon whites.
Each south american country has it's own individuality, they cannot be lumped together, just like Australia is different from New Zealand despite having some similarities. Brazil is probably the least "Latino" country of the Americas. As I said even our Carnival which is considered very "latino" because of it's colors and intensity is very different than the Festivals in Mexico or even Colombia, or Bolivia, our traditions are different. For instance most of the Latino countries despite their "passionate" nature are more conservative if compared to Brazil, you'll not see women with bare breasts showing in their festivals or Carnivals, this only happens in Brazil, as I said before Brazil in general is more "liberal" and cosmopolitan, we have a different culture.
Also, despite having an important contribution from the african culture, Brazil also has a strong european footprint especially in the states of Southeast and South of Brazil. Brazil has one the largest diasporas in the world of italians, germans, spaniards, poles, french, ukrainians, libanese, japanese, etc. The culture of this parts of Brazil which are more european and cosmopolitan has very little to do with countries like Peru, Bolivia, or even Mexico, which are countries with a mixed indigenous population and influenced heavily by indigenous culture, even the modern cities of Mexico are different than the modern cities of Brazil.
And I don't say this in an offensive way, I'm not trying to say brazilians are better, we're just different, just like Koreans are different from the Japanese for instance.

There is some inaccuracies in this video that I cannot let go, I will try to clarify some points:
1. Argentina has a HIGHER GDP per capita than Brazil, it's not equal.
2. Brazil is the 8th economy in the world by GDP (ppp)
3. The process of colonization of Brazil was totally different than from Argentina or any other South America country, Brazil was a monarchy for more than 50 years, and Rio de Janeiro was the capital of the Portuguese Empire for many years.
4. The majority of population in Brazil is NOT Black, most brazilians are White and Mixed (Multiracial), the mixed population can be of any combination (White+Black, Black+Native, White+Native, White+Black+Native, Asian+White, etc). Actually there is more Black people in USA than in Brazil.
5. Brazil also enslaved the Indigenous population, actually Brazil has killed more of their Native Amrican population than Argentina. Brazil has 0,4% of Native population, Argentina has 2,4%.
6. The idea that all brazilians are just laid back people that just want to party is a common misconception, people go to Rio de Janeiro and Bahia and think that the whole country is like this, this is just like I went to California and Florida and think that all Americans are like Floridians and Californians. It's just a stereotype. but

@louigamon8325 This is why our culture is not "Latino", the concept that better describe Brazil is a actually closer to the "melting pot" culture that exists in the US, we're unique among our neighbors, we're different. Actually when you say that "Latinos" are similar and share the same culture you're actually just reinforcing stereotypes created by anglo-saxon whites about a population that they see as not white, you're actually reinforcing a racist generalizing view about South Americans.
Have you ever wondered why there's no such racialized term for Europeans? Probably because they're more respected, everyone understands that there's differences between Germany and France, for instance, even thought they share some cultural aspects. But for South American countries it appears that we don't deserve that same treatment and all the countries are lumped together as a single cultural and racial block called "Latinos", which doesn't make any sense, I think even Germany has much more in common with Poland, than Brazil with Colombia or Argentina for instance, but people don't lump Germany and Poland together.
In resume, Brazil is not a "Latino" country, not in the way most people understand the meaning of this word.

Gabriel Torres There are more "pure" blacks (with more than 80% of african genes) in USA than in Brazil, most of the Brazil population is Pardo, but even Pardos have on average between 40-60% of genes coming from european origin from Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Polish, German, and also with a contribution from North Africa and Levant, etc. And as other comments have said about 47% of the population in Brazil is white with a significant portion of them with more than 90% of europe ancestry with genes coming from a mix of mainly Portuguese, Italian, German, Spanish, and Polish ancestry. The idea that Brazil is a black country is totally preposterous, by absolute numbers there are more white people in Brazil than Argentina.

@louigamon8325 No, I don't used the "naked women carnival" trope, I don't made any judgement about this on my comment, I just said it's different than what our neighbors do. No, we are not Latinos, at least not in the way the majority of people think a Latino is.
You're wrong about the european influence in Brazil my friend, this influence is not only present in the South but in all the country even in the Northeast and North, but it's much more pronounced in the Southeast and South. You said that the North of Brazil has a lot of indigenous culture, ok, this is true, but now tell me another country of the so called "Latin America" that has the same huge variation in culture types like Brazil, maybe Colombia or Venezuela, I doubt very much. There are cities in Brazil where most people literally speak German or Italian dialects almost instinct in Europe, and at same time there's isolated tribes in Amazon which are still uncontacted, what other country has that much variation in culture in the Americas besides the US?

And then the west still has the nerve to say that the chinese are committing a "genocide" against the Uyghur population IoI Even if we consider that the chinese have committed human rights abuses, that pales in comparison to what the palestinians have been enduring for the last 70 years with complete support from almost all western countries. This is what a genocide truly looks like, actually I would say that this is even worse than a genocide, because in a genocide at least there's an end to the suffer somehow, this is different, this is like a sadistic perpetual torture against an entire population, it's sick and vile. This is even worse than what happened in WW2, because in that situation there was a clear hope that the bad guys would be defeated, as they were in the end, but in this conflict there's no hope at all that the bad guys will pay for their crimes, there is no hope of achieving any meaningful justice.

@TylerSolvestri Being dark skinned is NOT being black, most players in Brazil squad are MIXED, they have Italian, German, Portuguese, Polish, Spanish, Native American and African genes running through their veins, they are NOT black, they are MIXED. People love to confuse mixed populations with black africans. And even among the mixed population in Brazil what predominates in their genetic makeup are the white european genes, look at the genetic studies done about this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Brazil#Genetic_studies

Yep, from the footage it appears that the guy with the gun was being verbally aggressive in the first place and he basically used his gun as a shield, imagine a guy that is cursing at your mother or girlfriend or yelling at you from his car, making provocations until a breaking point, and then when you finally get aggressive and go for the fight the guy pulls a gun and shoots you close range, it's basically a setting up to kill the other person. For me it appears like a case of abuse of authority, or "Chuck Norris Syndrome", a guy with a gun feeling too much powerful, and disregarding the boundaries of other people because he has a position of authority, and this case is even worse because the cop was not even in service.
But to be completely fair, this was my impression by seeing the action in the video, we don't know all the details. But in any case a situation like this should be completely avoidable if the officer had a better professional attitude.

@x_jun_x You are not quite right about how the Mosuo live, most of the women work in the field but they don't do it all alone, they receive help in the heavy work from the men in their families and men dominate the trade of animals which also brings another source of income.
So, technically speaking, in many houses the women are the breadwinners but they receive financial aid from their "husbands" and help in the fields from the men in their families, (brothers, etc), so it's no true that they do ALL the work by themselves. Also, most of the women who work hard on the fields are older women who already have had children, so they don't necessarily accumulate both functions.
There are some myths about how the the Mosuo live and how their society is organized. For instance, many people believe that all the families in the community have a Matrilineal system of inheritance but this is not true, almost 20% of the houses in the community are Patrilineal, and because of economic changes the "visitation system" of engagement is being replaced: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/14442211003730736
Another myth is that the Mosuo are a "fatherless" society, but this is also not completely right, many biological fathers participate actively in the lives of their children.

@serendipityshopnyc Thank you for answering the question, this is exactly what I expected, women in general are not willing to divide the bill and still act like ladies and let the men be comfortable in his role, if they're paying half they expect to have more authority in the relationship. I think a lot of women conflate having money with having more authority and acting more "masculine" inside the relationship, etc.
But I have another question, if you are married and working and your hubby is also working and both of you make around the same, you would expect from him to share the house chores equally with you, even things like make food, clean the house, etc? Also if you end up making more money than him casually, not necessarily because of his lack of ambition, but if you end in this situation making more money than him would you still share the house chores and more traditional domestic tasks equally with him, including caring for children?

The potential arable land in Brazil is actually bigger than the US potential, and this is not including the Amazon rainforest area. You're confusing arable land with area with optimal soil for growing crops. Yes, the US has probably more area of optimal soil for some types of crops, but if you're talking about the total area that could be adapted to receive crops than the area in Brazil is larger, there's still much room to grow. And yes, for this kind of adaptation you'll need fertilizers, but this is not necessarily a bad thing, fertilization done right is not an environmental hazard and many advanced economies use large amounts of fertilization in their farming, like Australia, New Zealand, UK, and the US itself.

@mrscorp2011 No one wants change when this change is destroying their culture and the place where they live, increasing violence, social tension, and the feeling of atomization in the community. There's clear benefits in living in a place where most people look and think similar as you, so much so that even in multicultural countries like Brazil or USA there's a "natural segregation", where people choose to live in neighborhoods which are more representative of their own racial/ethnic group.
What I see is that most people are huge hypocrites when it comes to racial matters, they preach acceptance and no racism, but they prefer to date, live, and interact with people more similar to themselves and this include people of the same racial and ethnic background, but when someone state this preference clearly this person is branded a disgusting racist, people are very hypocritical and cynical about this.

@2genders7 Yes, and this is why is abortion is morally repulsive and wrong, you're interrupting a human life in development, what many people don't get is that when you allow abortion for the 3 first months it's a known fact that the law is never strictly enforced, and abortions occur in more advanced stages of development too, even in countries where corruption is low, like in Norway, these types of problems occur, with abortions being carried out illegally by the healthcare system well beyond the 3rd month. In other words, when you release it for the first 3 months, you are basically saying that it is ok to abort a 6,7,8 or 9 month old baby who is already developed, who feels pain, cries, and it's conscious, because in the day to day practice this is what happens.

@lotsee13 Everyone "settles" in some way or another, the idea that everyone is able to get the "best" possible mate for life is not true, it's basically impossible. People can think that they're getting the "best" because many times they're in love or maybe the partner has some qualities that the person find important at the moment, but most of times this is an illusion, even people change with time and are not able to preserve all the qualities that they had once they married.
In the end love is a choice, not just an emotion, it should not be based only on passion, because being in love has an expiration date for everyone it's a biological fact, no one can stay in love forever. So if you base your relationship only on emotions, like passion, or "happiness", once this fades after 3 to 7 years then you'll just be frustrated and end up getting a divorce, and then maybe you'll enter a new relationship thinking that this time you found "the guy" and repeat the same pattern again. This is why I say, love is a choice, you can only have a long term relationship with anyone if you choose to love this person and stay on her side.

Your analysis about Brazil is very superficial and shortsighted. Brazil is the second largest exporter of agriculture products both in raw volume and also in revenue only after the US (no, it's not the Dutch, go to the FAO website and compare the numbers). Also the industrial base of Brazil is larger than you think, if you take in consideration only original brands and companies owned by nationals the industrial output of Brazil is the largest in the Ibero-America even above Portugal and Spain. You have probably already used a brazilian made or designed product and you don't even know it, and I'm not talking about Havaianas flip flops, I'm talking about airplanes, advanced electric motors and electric equipment like big transformers, recharging electric car stations, advanced industrial CNC machines, wind turbines, third generation photovoltaic panels, etc, and many other products and services that are offered by brazilian multinationals and are conquering the US and the EU markets. Also the possible "collapse" scenario in relation to the shrinking population will also happen to most of other countries, so this point is moot.

@serendipityshopnyc Ok, at least you're being honest and coherent, thanks for your answer. Now if you don't mind I have a couple more questions. So by what you're saying you live in 50-50 arrangement, right, or close to that? Imagine that you both had decided to have children, at least one, who would be the primary caretaker of the child in her first years, you or your hubby? Or you would make sure that this task of caring for the baby is divided equally? Also, what percentage of women in the US or in your country you think are willing to accept a men that is a stay at home hubby and take care of the kids while mommy is working? Do you think the majority of women would accept this type of marital arrangement?
A final one. You say you're not a "traditional lady" in your relationship. Ok. Imagine that your place is invaded by night by burglars and they are about to enter your room, do you expect that your partner to protect you in some way, or at least show a more protective disposition towards you in a situation like this? How would you feel if you saw that your partner doesn't tried to protect or care for you at all?
1
-
@serendipityshopnyc You say there's a fair number of women who would possible accept a stay at home husband while they being the breadwinner, so in your estimation what percentage of the general female population would accept this arrangement for a long term relationship?
About the protection, so in the end you still expect of you partner to fulfill certain traditional roles based on his gender (physical size, height, stronger, etc), like the task of protecting you from a burglar invasion for instance. So you don't think is common sense that women also have particular characteristics that are specific the their gender and that make them more suitable to perform certain roles and tasks in the relationship? For instance, if he would ask you to be the primary caretaker of your hypothetical child and be responsible for most of the chores involved in it, would you be willing to do it? After all, it's only fair since he has a tacit responsibility of protecting you? In another words, what you do for him as a benefit that involves your particular female characteristics, outside of sex?

This is because the sheer size of the agriculture output of Mercosur is much larger if compared to the countries in the Pacific Alliance, Brazil alone is the second largest exporter of grains in the world, and the fourth largest producer, and is the biggest exporter of coffee, beef, poultry, orange juice, sugar cane, etc, among other agriculture products. So the impact of a block with this amount of agricultural output entering your market and offering lower prices can be very disrupting, this is why there's much more resistance from some sectors in the EU to accept a free trade deal between the two blocks.

@vinishap222 Nope, 70 over a population 34 million men is a minority from any point of view, and the fact the there was man of many different professions have nothing to do with anything, there's bad people everywhere in society, from nurses to doctors and elementary teachers or religious figures, etc, this is normal. Have you not see the Lucy Letby case, the nurse that killed babies, I could use that case to say that every nurse is evil and has bad intentions when treating small children, etc, but this is clearly not the case, the vast majority of nurses appear dedicated to their profession and would not hurt other person. It's the same with men, generalizing a whole gender because of the crimes of a percentage of bad people is wrong, period.

@audreymuzingo933 It's much easier for women with some kind of disability to find a partner. For instance, even men who are just shorter than average are less likely to be married compared to their taller peers, they also marry latter in life if ever, and I'm not talking about dwarfism here, just guys that're short. There're many studies from respected universities showing this statistical trend. Also shorter men have a higher rate of suicide and depression than the average for the male population.
I imagine that the situation for men with serious disabilities like deformities or chair bound is even worse, if you look at prostitution many guys that use this type of services have some kind of disability, because this is the only way they can have some sort of affective and sexual life, since they can't find a partner. Women are certainly negatively impacted as well by having some disability or being "ugly", but the impact for them is less extreme than for men. I mean I have seem women with disabilities and who are ugly creating adult content and being very successful at this, including receiving marriage proposals, I can't imagine the reverse being true for men.

Because China is already a dictatorship, in countries like Turkey, Russia, China, etc, there's already repressive laws in place to censor people. In Brazil there's no such laws, the freedom of speech is guaranteed by the constitution at least in theory, and this judge is acting in a extrapolation of Brazil's own legal framework, he's stepping outside the boundary of the legal process to persecute the political opposition, with the excuse of "saving democracy" and combating "fake news". To you have an idea of how bad things are this judge has already charged a person for saying that he's bald on instagram, yes, it appears excessive but this is Brazil right now.

From the footage it appears that the guy with the gun was being verbally aggressive in the first place and he basically used his gun as a shield, imagine a guy that is cursing at your mother or girlfriend or yelling at you from his car, making provocations until a breaking point, and then when you finally get aggressive and go for the fight the guy pulls a gun and shoots you close range, it's basically a setting up to kill the other person.

There's actually a superior gender, it's men, basically all things that you see when you open your eye were invented, designed, projected, calculated, and built mostly by men, and when I say "mostly" I mean more than 95% of things. If tomorrow all the women in the workforce stopped working and stood at their homes, it would certainly start a huge crisis and it would have a big economic impact, but even after 6 months of this civilization would still be functional, society would not collapse because of it. Now if tomorrow all the male workers decided to stopped working and don't live their homes, civilization would collapse in less than a week, even if women tried to replace them.

@tamrat-kifleabebe2054 Not true at all, you're just one more ignorant gringo who don't know nothing about Brazil. Of the 43% of the Brazilian population who are "mixed" about a third of this are what we call "caboclos" which are basically a population produced from the mixing between "whites+indigenous", they're not Blacks. The rest are what we call "mulatos" or "morenos", and even among this population most of them have the majority of their genes coming from european populations.
For instance, Neymar in Brazil is not considered a Black person, he's mixed but not Black, in the US they have a weird interpretation of race, everyone that has even a small portion of african blood is automatically considered Black, but this is not how the racial classification works in Brazil and in most of Latin America. If you make a genetic testing on Neymar the result would probably shock you, because most of his genetic background would come from europe, look at his son.
You cannot say that a person that has 70% of european genes, 20% from africa, and 10% from indigenous, you cannot say that this person is Black, this doesn't make any sense, only in the US a classifcation like this is accepted.

@danilobatista251 Nope, they are not afraid of their african heritage, it's you guys that are obsessed to paint mixed populations in Latino countries as Black when they're not. You guys to the same in Brazil, Colombia, DR, etc, and it's extremely cringe. Only because a person has some degree of african ancestry this doesn't make them Black, you guys are using the racist "one drop rule" to try to paint all the south american continent as african, when this is actually not true. In Brazil for instance most of the population is actually white and mixed, not Black, and about 1/3 of the pardos in Brazil actually have a predominately white+native racial profile.
