  1. At that depth you can't tether a submersible. The ocean current at sea level goes one way but thousands of meters down it can go another. Far too unpredictable for 13,000 feet of cables, it very well could whip the sub violently.

  2.  @artvandelay837  I think it imploded. It happened so quick there was no time to contact the mother ship. The sub and it's occupants are now part of the Titanic debris field.
