  14. "Super reliable German cars": Today's Oxymoron. The horrible resell value of over engineered German vehicles is due to their reliability. Everyone knows that a used 100k mileage German car will cost a small fortune to keep on the road. The high tech electronics will crap out along with all the cheap plastic that is used in the engine bay. Japanese cars will last twice+ as long. That's why Acura & Lexus have high resale values.

  17. Lucid: only producing 12,000 to 14,000 vehicles for 2022. A wait list of two years & a starting price of $77,400. Rivian: price starts at $68,575 & has only produced less then 7,000 vehicles in 2022. Rivian has a target of 25,000 units for 2022. Yeah, sure. My money is on Vinfast to outlast these two. I'm skeptical of the battery leasing but my gut tells me that this company means business (pun intended).

  19. I understand how easy it is to get into debt even when you're financially responsible. College, a car, a home etc. God forbid a medical calamity & then it's time for bankruptcy. So I don't judge others for debt, it's just the way our capitalist society works (or in this case doesn't). I just don't know how we can change the system as it seems to be setup as a debt trap. IDK

  21. Us 'car guys' are becoming a dying breed. Just go to any classic car show and you'll see old guys with old cars. Not too many young people. A few, yes, but not enough imo. We had a great run but when we head to the junk yard in the sky that will be that. The next generations will be driving electric toasters talking, maybe, about the old guys with their gas guzzlers. They will have plenty of time to talk as they will be waiting for their vehicles to charge...

  22. Korean vehicles in general are a mixed lot in terms of reliability. Many go miles and miles with no problems. But there are a significant number that have serious issues ( drive train being one). Oil burners are also an issue. Imho it all comes down to quality control issues. I'll be sticking with vehicles made in Japan for the foreseeable future.

  23.  @davidburcham7951  The correlation is having to take your eyes off the road. One or two seconds doesn't seem like much but it really is. Until we have 100% reliable autonomous vehicles your eyes, brain & reaction time are the difference between a wreck & a safe drive. The trouble is most people think they are better drivers then they really are. "I can multi-task!" is an arrogant approach to driving & a sure fire way to become a statistic.

  33. I used to love riding the Blue Line from downtown Long Beach to downtown LA. Downtown LA has a lot going for it aside from Skid Row of course. Nowadays that same Blue Line is not safe whatsoever. Druggies, psycho homeless etc. Haven't ridden it for awhile and no plans of ever going on it again. My life is more important then a French dipped sandwich.

  37. No car manufacturer has cranked up EV production yet. Many designs are still in the works. It won't take much to topple Tesla once things are ramped up. With all the QC issues at Tesla a better EV vehicle by Toyota or VW will eat Teslas lunch. By that time maybe Tesla will finally build their cyber truck. Maybe...

  39. By the comments section here the vast majority of people prefer knobs & buttons for repeated tasks like HVAC controls or the radio. I 100% agree. Common sense time: If it's illegal to text & drive how safe is it to use a touchscreen while driving? In both instances you're taking your eyes off the road for a number of seconds. I believe we will have more accidents due to this as most drivers think they are better drivers then they really are. There is no substitute for having your eyes looking through the windshield. Things happen pretty quickly & that second or two makes all the difference in the world.

And it's laughable when owners feel like they're saving the planet single-handedly while the rest of their lifestyle choices pollutes more then my ICE. One day I'll consider an electric car but I'll wait for battery technology to advance to a higher level along with a built up infrastructure.
