@davejones9469 You think Dao gives a shit ? You think the Chinese give a shit ? You think I give a shit ?
No, no, and no. What happens must happen. It is inevitable. Dao is inevitable, unstoppable, unavoidable, and unalterable, like the Will of God.
Don't forget. Behind every danger is some blessing awaiting, and behind every blessing is time for caution. Do you understand why the US stock markets and house markets are hitting record highs while nearly a million Americans have died of COVID and over a million cases a day ? It is really simple. The Chinese are buying.
The Chinese are smart investors. Behind the danger of high unemployment and high inflation is the blessing that those old, weak, and useless are dead, the government saves money on pensions and welfare, the young and beautiful get their inheritance early, and there are more jobs than there are people willing to work. So, buy, buy, buy.
See the way a Daoist think ? Always positive, aggressive, and optimistic. Do what is inevitable. Let be but never let go. Never go with the flow but make the inevitable inevitable.
May the love and the peace of Jesus be with us.

@davejones9469 Atrocity ??? What atrocity ? Do you mean not all those killed at Tienenmen Square were criminals, that some of them may be innocent ? Sure, I'll give you that. That's called collateral damage. It's inevitable. That's Dao.
LBut look at it this way : for over 30 years since the Tienenmen Square justice, there is no more American paid protesting in China, except in Hong Kong, China.
In Hong Kong, the Chinese government could easily have killed a few thousand of the illegal protesters and end the American supported riots. But they didn't. Why ? It is because China has given Hong Kong 50 years of one country two systems. So, according to the law of the land, no criminals were killed in Hong Kong. You can try, but you won't be able to find such intelligent and civilized government anywhere in the world. Even countries like France, hundreds would have lost their lives in riots of this sort or another. It's inevitable.
May the love and the peace of Jesus be with us.

Dao is not Nature. Nature has shapes and forms, and is ever changing. Nature has its beginning and its end. Dao is metaphysical, unobservable, and unknowable by humans. Dao is the Alpha and the Omega of heaven and earth, and everything in between. Dao is eternal, unchanging, and Dao is everywhere, in animals, in plants, in bricks, in poops and pees. Our universe will end one day, but Dao will never end. Big difference.
May the love and the peace of Jesus be with us.

@davejones9469 Nature has no beginning or end ? You need to explain that to those scientists who believed in big bang. But if something changes, it logically has a beginning and an end. Dao does not change, and therefore it is eternal, no beginning and no end.
If you are talking about other universes, previous universes, and black holes, well, those are not Nature, are they ? If they are not physical but metaphysical, they are unobservable and unknowable by humans.
Jesus is a human. So, he would not know or understand those things, and he never pretended that he did.
All that about beginning and end of Nature is not that important for no human would witness them anyways. What is important though is that what is natural is inevitable, unstoppable, unavoidable, and unalterable.
It is therefore futile to try to be good, to be right, or to be virtuous. There is no good without evil, no right without wrong, and no virtue without vice. They are all parts of the One and the same Dao. They are inseparable, interrelated, intertwined, interdependent, and necessary parts of the whole. It's Yin Yang in Chinese.
May the love and the peace of Jesus be with us.

@davejones9469 O.K. I can accept that the black holes, the pararell universes and all are parts of the universe. But, as long as something changes, like you have insisted, that something must have a beginning and an end. It's that simple.
Unless. I'm giving you a way out here. Unless that something is metaphysical, unobservable, and unknowable to humans, like God. In that case, there is no more argument because we can't argue over something we don't know, can we ?
Dao is like that. We believe Dao exist because we believe we exist, heaven and earth exist, and everything in between exist. According to the law of cause and effect, everything that exist is caused to exist, and we call this cause Dao.
You can call it God if you like, but this cannot be a personal God with desires and an unstable personality. That personal God is nothing but a superstition.
I'll add another eye opening observation for your information : what we observe is not real, what is real we cannot observe. For example, we can observe an apple, but we cannot observe the elements, the DNA, or the life in that object which made the object a real apple and not just an image of an apple. So never mind an image of a black hole, or an image of gravity, which is nothing more than a two dimensional snap shot, not even a three dimensional representation. They are not real. What is real is what is in them to make them real, which we humans cannot observe. We call that Dao.
道可道,非常道
If you can describe it, it is not real Dao.
May the love and the peace of Jesus be with us.

@davejones9469 Exactly. You used to think the earth was the center of the universe. We didn't. 5,000 years ago, in the book of transformation, the I-Ching, the beginning of our universe had already been outlined clearly. First, there is the no limit, no shape and no form, the Dao. Then the Dao is transformed into everything, The process of transformation continues by way of Yin Yang, and so on, and so on.
Expressed mathematically by Lao Tzu some 3,000 years later was : from 0 comes 1, Yin Yang; 0 and 1 makes 2; 0,1, and 2 makes 3; 3 makes heaven and earth and everything in between. Any computer student understands this fact.
Back to the question of what is reality, the lesson I taught you last time that what we observe is not real, what is real we humans cannot observe. When you read these words, you are observing the black and white letters. But any computer student can tell you those are just 0's and 1's, which you don't get to observe, and even if you do, you wouldn't understand. No computer expert can understand how a computer is brought about, the hardware, the software, the marketing, financing, labor management, ..... that naturally and inevitable put the computer in place for you to observe. It just happened. What happens must happen. It is unstoppable, unavoidable, unalterable. You can only accept it and learn how to love it. Like Jesus taught us : Love God. That is the one and only commandment Jesus gave us.
So you think you know shit ? Let me ask you : What gravity is ? Not what is gravity because anyone can have a different definition. But what gravity is, or what God is ? You see ? No one knows. No human can see gravity, smell gravity, touch gravity, taste gravity, or hear gravity. But we all believe gravity exist. By the same way, we believe Dao exist.
Who is a hippy here ? You ? Not me ? Lao Tzu was not a hippy. Hippies thought Daoism is a passive, negative, and pessimistic way of life. They are wrong. Daoism is about living actively, positively, and optimistically. Those who understood Dao live and enjoy every moment of their lives, worry free. They would understand that behind any danger is some blessing awaiting, and in every blessing is a time for caution. Daoist doesn't let go. Daoist let be. Daoist doesn't flow. Daoist strive by utilizing the inevitable.
You said bye. That means you are ready to give up. A Daoist understands that most if not all failures are people giving up too soon. The strength of water is in its persistency, and never give up. That is how water can cut through mountains and the toughest rocks. So, my advice to you is : enjoy and never give up.
Many have tried to kill Jesus, and many have tried to kill God. They all failed because they gave up. You may be the first one in human history to succeed if you don't give up. May be is not inevitable though. It is wishful thinking, see ?
May the love and the peace of Jesus be with us.
