AS 90 is a superb gun system. I'm quite surprised that the UK would hand these over, we need them.

At least it wasn't over a football match.....another war in south America. I did enjoy that!

It's very sad that chamberlain's piece of paper left these courageous people hanging out to dry. Great video as usual.
61
The good old gladiator was also a case in point. Saw good service in malta and the battle of Britain. Great video as ever!
58
I have been in Switzetland during mobilization in the 1970s. Quite fascinating to see the barriers come down on a motorway tunnel, and then see F5s roll out of cover; tanks too.
54
I regularly see the Mirage 2000 maritime patrol fly over my house and along the coast. Impressive aircraft even today. My dentist is on Avenue Marcel D'Assault. I was there last week lol. Great aircraft.
30
Interesting video as usual. I was always fascinated by the homebuilt AFVs we found in the Balkans. One in particular was a truck covered in old conveyor belt material (a webb of rubber with wire running through it). We actually tried it out, and it was pretty much impervious to anything upto and including 7.62mm. We didn't try 50 calibre, but I suspect it would have defeated the armour.
20
Lovely option, but it would be something like a BAE Hawk or as the video says an old F5 upgrade.
16
Great video again. It's worth noting the substantial involvement of BAE in the consortium for the JSF/F35. It is not simply an American design as many people think. I do like your channel.
16
The new iteration of the BAE/SAAB CV 90 also looks extremely interesting, with its chameleon like active camouflage system.
14
Ah the bridges at toko ri. Interesting period in jet aviation. The terrifying tales of test pilots.
14
Exactly, the guru of test pilots!
13
I agree, it's a beauty. Mind you the drakken too was a stunner. They have continued the trend with the Gripen, another beauty.
13
Definitely the first time the EU has done this and you are spot on with your choice of types. Many Mig 29s are in cold storage from East German stores believe it or not.
13
Impressive briefing Mr Nash, well done.
13
Warrick the second w nor pronounced😊
12
They are definitely can do folk, incredibly resilient.
12
I still regularly see the mirage 2000 flying over my house every week. Beautiful aircraft.
11
Why allow a force still intent on invading sovereign territory upgrade their means to do so. Withdraw your claims and we will gladly help you out with upgrading your airforce! Great video.
11
Beautiful aircraft. I remember instructing on this aircraft many years ago, as a curiosity. Indeed the Fishbed and flogger too, along with many many others. Captain Scarlet lol.
10
Fascinating. Lots of 'Battle of Britain ' movie aircraft came from the Spanish airforce.
10
Black Mirror produced an episode about mechanical drone bees programmed to attack anyone marked for the chop.
9
X wing fighter. Good idea!
9
Brilliant video. There is a good little aviation museum near me in Rochefort, in the old french fleet aviation station, next to the school of gendarmerery. Difficult to miss as there is a french submarine hunter on the roundabout outside! Well worth a visit, lots of history in Rochefort.
9
Very interesting. I am a retired air defender myself so this is definitely a top bit of kit.
9
Cracking tank. Sadly we dont have many ourselves. Only 400 ever built and we need every one, so 14 is a gesture and a political move. With the way things are going in the world, i suspect the supply will end at 14. We do not have the capacity to build a tank as good as Challenger 2 now, and with a much needed government change in UK, reality will hit hard, we need them.
9
All militaries today are severely underfunded. The Indian Armed Forces remain a force of good standing.
9
Interesting video. Wise decision to go with one man strapping on the Merlin in either a hurricane or a spitfire to meet the imminent threat, rather than this. It's numbers we needed at the time. Dare I say, we know how a twin merlin engined type performed, in the Mosquito. An aircraft better designed for the times, with the added benefits of non strategic material construction and multiple roles.

And the sale of Canadian bacon of course. Nice comment!

A friend of mine who served in the German navy in the 1980s, proudly showed me a photo he took of a 'mig' making a low pass over his ship in the Baltic. For years he lived in the belief that the cold war came close to hotting up for him, until moi, a veteran air defender from the UK (25 years British Army RA) shattered his illusions by confirming that the offending 'Mig' was actually and quite clearly a Drakken lol. He's never forgiven me lol.
7
@EdNashsMilitaryMatters I look forward to that!
7
Excellent video, best one so far!
7
Lol I remember arriving in Sarajevo in 1996, to hear that a US Navy F18 had dropped a 500lb bomb on the Tuzla base in the north of Bosnia......that's the US base, in Tuzla I might add. Thankfully no injuries for what was called 'the inadvertent release'
7
It's a handsome beast! Reminds of something from the mind of Gerry Anderson, with that triple engine pod design.
7
Lol it is quite a language (akin to Hungarian). Very resilient people and great soldiers.
6
Too much power, let alone ego.
6
I've always been fascinated by that aircraft. Amazing thanks for sharing.
6
😁 right!
6
I enjoy the content of your videos. Keep it up.
6
Nice one Edd. Long live Ukraine!
6
Great video as usual. Ye, doesn't count unfortunately because the targets were on the ground. The winter war certainly does count as part of WW2. The Russian invasion of Poland counts 1939, but grounded aircraft don't count.
6
Lol nice UNIT clip. Interesting video. The truth is so often stranger than fiction. You should do a video on the op to protect the rare Red Kite in the Brecon Beacons during the early 90s. I was a staff officer in the brigade at the time. It was all quite exciting ironically.
5
I agree completely Edd that the new Russian offensive is doomed to failure. There is little doubt that far more kit is being supplied to Ukraine than we are told about, including old Soviet armour, aviation, artillery and more up to date kit. There is a lot of it still about in Europe and much of the media noise covers the transfers (Polish Migs being a case in point). I would also be very surprised if there weren't a few Ukrainian sailors undergoing submarine training in the west. The Scandinavian countries build some excellent silent attack boats, that could be of great use in the Black Sea.
5
I do like your channel so I have subscribed. Keep them coming!
5
@mattheweagles5123 no it doesn't count, although what you say is true. The kill has to be against a piloted airborne aircraft.
5
@mikearmstrong8483 indeed, they bridged a gap for about five minutes, but even so, good service. Historians know that they were never the only aircraft on the island. It's a bit like the old Paris taxi myth in WW1 and the miracle on the Marne. It helps to colour the history.
5
@vaclav_fejt indeed but it wasn't Britain's greatest moment was it. It was not really much better for Poland. Yes we went to war, but apart from some distant sideshows, we left the eastern European countries to be gobbled up by goose stepping 'ubermensch' ( i mean that last part sarcastically of course). Britain knew deep down In 1933/34 and then for certain after Anschlus that war was coming. It remains Britain's shame, although the fault lies with the perpetrators.
5
Great video, thoroughly enjoyed that. The illustrious Eric 'winkle' Brown has an interesting account of the Seafires and Sea Hurricanes. 👍
5
@armedbrit493 it's in its prime.
5
Well done mate! We are donating clothes to a charity local to us here in south West france. Vive la Ukraine!
