@budahbaba7856 This is not true. Japan's WWII war strategy was the same one they used successfully against China, Korea, and Russia. Fight a sharp quick campaign to seize territory and threaten to continue to do so in order to force the other side to negotiate a beneficial truce. Its only real miscalculation was in assuming the that the US would capitulate in order to concentrate on Europe. The Japanese conducted a offensive at the absolute maximum tempo that they could knowing they they could not maintain it and their superiority would not last. Their war against the UK and other colonial powers was just one of opportunity while they were weakened from the European war. The Japanese never had the intention of invading Australia or New Zealand. They didn't need to either. Australia did not have the industrial capacity to challenge the IJN.
