  3. It was never "just a war between Israel and Hamas". Iran has been pulling these strings for decades. There has been a steady drum beat of violence between and amid the various factions in the ME, that only occasionally flares up like in Oct. 7 or the fight between Israel and Hezbollah in S. Lebanon a few years ago.
