The "General Lee" was supposed to be a street legal stock racing car (back when they still used actual production cars) with the racing safety features, including the doors being welded shut. Which is why they had to go in and out of the windows.

Never let a good source of revenue go to waste...

@snex000 That isn't true because most people are not aware of the amount of information that companies collect on them. They do not ask for it. You sign a vague service agreement giving away your rights to pretty much anything they can think of, and most of the time you have to opt out, and even then, they STILL collect data and allow 3rd parties to do so. You would have to be idiotic to think this is okay.

@marcellachine5718 No one has that much tin foil for their hat.

Generally those send them to someplace where they can be recovered and resold when they send them to a single place. SO either this is a malfunctioning automated fraud script, or the fraudster is one lazy SOB. lol.
35
@UncleKennysPlace I'm sure thats why they are restricting it to "businesses" that have to identify themselves and provide info so that they have liability and someone the law can come looking for in case of fraud or thieft.

@petervansan1054 Some people are more honest and ethical than you.

The scam is that the seller probably has a whole collection of drop shipper web stores that they receive orders for usually high end/expensive items for unrealistically low prices. They ship something/anything that is cheap to them (the kid's bedding in this case) in order to get a tracking number to give, but of course it never arrives at the buyer's address. When they dispute the charge or ask for a refund, the seller can show that they shipped it and it was just misdelivered (intentionally in this case), and so that keeps the CC or ecommerce platform (Amazon) from automatically reversing the charge. And there is the surprising number of buyers who forget or never complain that their purchase never arrived.

@bobd2659 Why would Amazon do that? They get their cut twice for the same item...
12
@HH-ru4bj That is very not true. Many companies have "claw back" clauses in their executive contracts that if the board fires them for cause, (like being convicted of costing them shareholder value), they don't get their severance. Very few BoDs will knowingly approve of illegal activity. Willful ignorance yes, but actual shenanigans means they now share legal liability, and most of them an't got time for that.
11
@eriolduterion8855 That is strange. This is very much a frivolous lawsuit.
11
That is not a thing.
9
@saigyl9149 That is only for US Mail. And Amazon gave her permission to keep them.

Luckily those events are very rare. Otherwise police dept. would buy/get SWAT teams issued light anti-tank weapons like LAWS or AT-4s. Insert grumble about militarized law enforcement here.

Years ago I rolled over a (of course) Ford Bronco II. While I standing there watching them load my squashed truck on the wrecker, the cop hands me a ticket for "leaving the roadway"...

@earlwheelock7844 Your account is full of wrong. It would have been a 105mm gun and they knew he did not have any ammo. He never even took the turret out of "travel lock". Nelson had mental problems but intentionally didn't hurt anyone. He didn't open the hatch and he didn't have a gun. The tank threw a track on a barricade and was immobilized. The police used bolt cutters on the loader's hatch and then shot him thru the periscope instead of just waiting for him to come out.

It costs more for Amazon to issue return shipping and deal with figuring out and disposing of the merch than to just let the recipient keep it. But you noticed that they terminated that seller right?
6
Maybe. Also they also could be just trying to shut down the balloon operator and make them go somewhere else because they don't like them flying near by. Never underestimate how petty and intolerant some people can be.
6
@mikep490 You mean they want to hit the lawsuit settlement lotto.
6
@nolongeramused8135 It wasn't an awesome old car at the time. To them it was just like we would think of an 'oughts camero so something.
6
@PrezVeto Since it was thrown out, apparently not.

I had a coworker once who while otherwise a guy who was always talking about Jesus and his church, also liked to "share" his rap and hip hop with everyone. One time I asked him, "Do you listen to the lyrics? The words?" He had no answer... but he didn't keep playing it so much.
5
Doubtful. You still can't get a title loan in W. VA on your old deuce and a half. This is to set up a new revenue stream of people who need to create a paper trail on a vehicle that either lost or never had a title. Almost all of these will quickly get turned around to be titled in whatever state they reside in.
5
There is supposed to be a quality difference between a flagship sportscar and a Chinese scooter.
5
@heatherbostick1719 No it is not. The person was arrested, tried, convicted, etc. and now is being held pending a legal motion. How ever right or wrong it was or how bad The System is and there fore a 8A issue, isn't the point here.
4
Usually the person or persons who did the crime or ordered it is. In fact companies can be held "double liable" both personally and the corporation can receive criminal penalties too. And there are the whole RICO laws, which this probably falls under, if they wanted to go after FedEx.
4
@absurdengineering Not at the volumes online sellers work at. "Giving away" a dozen items, is worth it if it brings in thousands of legit sales.
4
I believe the word for that is indentured servitude. Or in this case academia. lol
4
Good thing 'Mericans don't use sidewalks.
4
It was just the judge being a dick.
4
Because it is supposed to be a free market where unsatisfied tenants can refuse to rent from bad landlords.
4
@Moosetick2002 Check your jingoism. not-DOT certed doesn't mean they don't have those things. It means they never bothered to do them because they were models for other markets. Standards in Japan and Europe are higher than they are in the US.
3
@Daves_Not_Here_Man_76 Well... this thread took a turn to the psychotic...
3
@pure-blood17 Bingo! Found the anti-semite in the comments of a Steve's video. My YT miscreant card is now full.

Except the warning only makes them obey in its vicinity. The point of speed traps isn't (supposed) to be revenue. Its that they are supposed to be unknown, to catch people who habitually speed/drive unsafe and to make them follow the law even when the trap isn't there.
3
Ambulance companies make money off the customers/patients not gub'ment. Insurance cos. pass the costs on to same.
3
@Avendesora Probably a Qanon believer.
3
@8:20 "Walmart failed to trademark the smiley face" I guess that is why they went with the alternate, a butthole sphincter. lol.
3
Second only to YouTube commenteers.
3
Its called the law of the free market.
3
@odius94 contextual comprehension fail.
3
@jpnewman1688 Here is an easier task; name all of the ones who have.
3
All of them, according to them.
3
@travelnc2g ... and when they do, they get charged and sued for it because they have to list a physical address and name owners. Think more.
3
If I were a citizen of Montana I'd be pissed that they were wasting my tax money on a blatantly unconstitutional law, ineffective (I guess they don't know what a VPN is) and... yeah, fascist AF, that is going to get thrown out the first time it comes before anyone's who's law degree wasn't written on toilet paper.
3
@C.Church lol. Had your Amazon account cancelled eh?
3
Must have been one of those very quiet cats. Ours would have let you know as soon as you closed the box on them, and then they would not have shut up from then on.
3
@tonymouannes Its an acquired taste. Its not corned beef or deviled ham if that is what you are comparing it to.
3
I hope they facilitate getting "grey market" imports get titled again. Lots of cool odd cars and bikes are in the US that can't be used on the roads because they didn't jump thru the hoops to get DOT certified and import certificates.
