He is being realistic. Real Politiks doesn't care about right and wrong or what you don't want to hear.

@EranRicos There is a distinction between what is moral (which is subjective) and what is the practical political effects are. The Japanese thought what they were doing in WWII was the "right thing" and they were pursuing their self-interests. You only have the perspective you have about it because they lost the war. History is written by the victors, but history also records many bad deeds done by those victors are well as its villains.

@nobody-y7i1r NATO didn't fail the defeat the Taliban, the "Afghan people" did. Just like in Vietnam, if a people/nation don't have the will to resist a force, then no foreign support will prevent it from eventually collapsing no matter how often it defeats it on the battlefield.

@whitegoose2017 Careful where you throw those stones. There are probably bad things that could be said about your own country and culture as well. And, no The Nasties were really worse than the Soviets. Not even Stalin expressly tried to exterminate an entire ethnic group. So please, go learn your history before you try to lecture anyone least you embarrass yourself. Again.

It would be horribly amusing to watch China face plant itself in Formosa just like Russia in Ukraine.

@spinningdownunder And did it matter at all? Was anyone ever punished for it?

@aw9307 Most people around the world would probably prefer it to have been thrown in the 16th century. Read whole thread before you start yammering your KB.

@LA-kc7ev Human beings have a tremendous ability to rationalize anything.

@nobody-y7i1r I have no idea what you trying to say here.

@realclassicman Think about the mentality difference between being motivated by the sociopathic, but rational desire for power, vs. the absolutely psychotic desire to exterminate an entire group of people based completely on an irrational delusion? Beyond that, much of the mass death attributed to socialism was just the flaws in that system and, well, gross incompetency in those attempting it instead of intentional systematic murder. Very different evils IMO.
