That is not true until decided by force of arms and ruled after the fact (conveniently by the winning side). @2:07 "The people who tried to overthow the government..." False. They tried to leave the government. All of the Confederate politicians and officers resigned their offices and commissions before joining the Confederacy. After the war, and after whatever penalty was inflicted upon them, they (were forced to) become US citizens again and could obtain offices. The 14th Amendment clause was vindictive and purely a political move to prevent threats to established incumbents that had been installed by the Republican party in the South. You know, kinda like Democrats are doing today... Good thing you're not "HistoryEagle"...
