@10:15 "didn't peel the potatoes" They most likely still did. At the time they would have considered the skin of potatoes "unclean", because, you know, it touched to dirt and potatoes who had started to sprout and green would have toxins in their skin. Even the starving poor would peel them. They did not know that most of the nutritional value in a spud is in the skins. They had plenty of labor for peeling too.
