  2. As a total ignoramus (aged 73) when it comes to computer technology, my first try would be to change my username and password. I've only just set up Linux Mint VM and still have to learn how to use it, but I'm purely guessing that I'd need a different username and password if I was to set up another Linux distro. Maybe I'm wrong, but I hope you manage to solve your problem.
