  6. That's a horrific story, particularly because it happened in the very early days of computerised technology, when it should still have been MANUALLY checked by the operators BEFORE use. The fact that the error messages were also ignored and overridden without any investigations being made, just appalls me beyond comprehension. It certainly makes me wonder how "safe" the use of AI and AGI will be, as a creation is only as good as its creator. Just because I have a brain, it doesn't mean I'll end up being an Einstein. I hope AECL went far more than just bankrupt!! Stay safe and well, everyone, wherever you are.

All councils in the UK are guilty of cutting corners in an effort to save money on housing, roads, etc. In the long run they always cost a lot more than a good job would have done in the first place, simply because they have to keep returning to "repair" the botch jobs they'd made the previous times.

  48. It's a shame that this maritime disaster is hardly known about, in comparison to the Titanic, but there was a lot more grandiose attached to the Titanic for a number of reasons, as well as it having been on its maiden voyage. RIP 🥀🥀🥀
