  1. You're wrong and also right. Addiction is real, because it's not just the substance but the habit as well. Whether it's cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, or playing computer games, we don't start off as an addict because, as you've said, we make that choice to begin with. As time passes, addiction creeps in, whether we're aware of it or not. Stay safe and well, wherever you are, and all the best for 2024.

  3. I agree with you, Patrick. Now imagine a combination of sugar, refined seed oils, tobacco (and maybe alcohol as an extra). Choose your poison, so to speak. Processed foods is a subject worth looking at, too, and there are several channels on here which cover that. Stay safe and well, wherever you are, and all the best for 2024.

  4.  @takenname8053  Try to find two or three people (separately) you can talk to about your feelings. I speak from experience. Between the ages of 16 and 45, I tried suicide three or four times. I'm 72 now, and glad I didn't succeed. Some may say I didn't try hard enough, or that I didn't really want to die, and they may be right for all I know, but I meant it at the times I tried. The biggest mistake I made was to hide my true misery, as I didn't feel I was worth anything. Sharing IS caring, and I know now that there's nothing to be ashamed of in feeling that way. Most people do care and would be willing to try and help you, so don't give up. My thoughts are with you.

  5. There's nothing like an occasional "reminder", especially to those who aren't willing to take an honest look at themselves or even do anything for themselves. Laziness in rife these days, so nothing like a good kick up the whatsit for some. All the best for 2024 to you and yours.
