Well, the structure of the English language is a combination of other languages (e.g. Latin, Greek, French, German, etc), so anyone who doesn't understand the history of a word isn't really in a position to criticise the context in which it may be used.
"Reading between the lines" can be quite important at times.
Whatever way we choose to say something is, to some extent, limited to each individual's knowledge and understanding of that language. When someone speaks or writes to me, I'm far more interested in the overall context of those words than I am in the individual usage of them.
It seems to me that criticism has recently become a ridiculously bad habit by many of those who just enjoy doing it for the sake of it, rather than actually having any solid grounds for making it in the first place.
Maybe I'm just an old-fashioned girl (I'm 71) with an old-fashioned curl (anyone remember Aretha Franklin?), but sincerity is far more important to me than the way in which it's portrayed. "It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it".
Have a good day, everyone, wherever you are.😉

@Robbie939
That's a very good point, Robbie, and confirms the fact that there are times when we only see what we want to see, or even hear what we want to hear.
For that matter, we can even say (or write) what we think someone may wish to hear, the media being the worst culprit of that. And no, I won't even start on the politicians!
Although we have the internet and mobile phones galore, communication seems to have become a mere practice of empty words where, as long as you say something/anything, it doesn't matter what it is.
"Free speech" is a thing of the past, where we now have to mince our words or even use abbreviations/coding/slang when we're using social media like YT, for example. How many times have we all had our unobtrusive comments deleted/hidden?
As for offense, we all know how trolls love to spend every waking hour making efforts to get a reaction. If someone gets back to me with a genuine criticism, I'll politely respond. Otherwise, I just ignore them. I'm never offended by any words directed towards me, because I choose not to be, but there will always be those who have nothing better to do than play the victim.
Stay safe and well, wherever you are.
