  1. As soon as you mentioned ammonium nitrate, Paul, my heart missed a beat. During my very early teens in Dublin, I remember a schoolmate one day telling me that the IRA used fertiliser and sugar to make their bombs. Of course, it meant nothing me as a very naïve 13-year old, and it seemed rather ridiculous to me at the time. At 71 now, it's funny the things I can remember from so long ago.   13. Although it's a bit outdated now, there was a good film made about Joseph Merrick, starring John Hurt (the elephant man) and Anthony Hopkins (the doctor). It's worth watching, as it's an extraordinary story in so many ways, especially because it was at a time when life was very harsh during the Victorian period. RIP, Joseph Merrick🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀

  14. "If" is a very big world in sad cases like this one..... IF that customer hadn't removed the light bulb, the waiter wouldn't have used a match whilst trying to refit it. However, it was clearly a disaster waiting to happen.....sooner or later. RIP to all those who died.🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀

  21. I remember, some time in the 1970's, going to the cinema to watch the film called "The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser". It always stuck in my memory, maybe because it was a very unusual film for its time.

  22.  @clownbag  Yes, there's a nice little lilt in some of his words. The Northern Irish accent has a very strong Scottish lilt to it, too. Very different from the Southern parts, where I'm from.
