  1. The F-16 was the result of the dismal performance of the fatso "flying bathtub" F-4 in the Vietnam War. The F-4 was the reason why there were only 5 U.S. Aces in Vietnam but 19 North Vietnamese Aces. North Vietnam flew the small, maneuverable, single engine Mig-21. Heck, the F-4 didn't even have a cannon at the beginning of U.S. involvement. The results were obvious.
