  13. What do higher order or hierarchy beings do for self gratification? The Jews say that God allowed man the free will and determination to spiral out of control in the old days, and then cleaned the slate a few times in the form of Sodom and Gomorrah and the flood. Did he take joy in it, in the same way a boy playing GTAV runs over pedestrians and shoots cops and giggles over it because simulations are funny? No one on our level can know this. The same could be said about war, disease, violence etc in the sense that if a higher order is pulling the joystick on our existence, they may well be having so much fun watching us die in stupid ways or commit ugly actions that they don’t recognize the moral pain they are causing. God may well be a teenager playing a multidimensional Xbox.

  22. True, but failure under the scientific method simply results in a "back to the drawing board" mode of thinking, whereas failure under faith or belief can be deadly. Consider as an example, the "end of the world" hoaxes over the years that have snookered some believers into snuffing themselves out of fear.

  23. I believe that the only way for negative gravity or anti-gravity to exist is to directly tamper with the way that a mass interacts with other masses through the gravitational field. Which is in a dimension so small in scale, that to try to influence it even with electromagnetism would be a huge technical challenge. My best guess is that so kind of EM holography would be needed to start messing around with it, and before we even did that a proper understanding of the gravitational mechanism between masses would be needed.

  29.  @obsidianjane4413  I had a teacher in high school who trotted out the stretched spandex over the ring with the weight in the middle to demonstrate gravity. We all looked at it, added and subtracted weights and various size spheres and matchbox cars, and then I asked my teacher a question. I asked him is a three dimensional representation using a balloon would be more accurate. He told me it would be too cumbersome, and that anyone not used to abstract thinking would damn it. Still, he told me I was on the right path to how to think about it, and the concept of a balloon inflating and deflating rapidly to represent a gravitational field around a spherical mass is not far off the mark.

  31. The matter of free will and value of existence would be subject to debate then, wouldn’t it? A NPC character in a in some grandiose simulation (like ours) would be granted the impression of choice and free will and be able to run through life happily while an individual who is representing the “higher power” programmer or user would be truly able to flout the rules of our reality because they are not like the rest. Who is pulling YOUR strings?

  36. It seems to me this is a chicken and egg argument they are trying to make. Neutron stars merge, therefore life exists...and therefore there is a creator running the universe? One could add to that by saying "black holes and neutron stars are just gods marbles." BTW, is it wrong to tell someone that all atoms are in a sense, quark-electron stars?

What if...the CMB is just the product of a multitude of big bangs produced by black holes/quasars that exploded after building up too much dark matter inside and losing stability in a collision, exploding in such a way that what we think we see resembles the remains of one big bang but is in fact the cumulative aftermath of billions of them.

This may change in the future. 3. Genetics is nothing without optimized environment. We have “silent geniuses” lurking among us who can never realize their talents because of bad luck, while we also have morons and simpletons in positions to influence the future who got there via the Peter Principle.

Their logic may be that because of the high population and insatiable needs of the world, correction is a hopeless delusion and the only way out is for the “intelligent” to survive through prepping (bunkers and stuff) and allow the world to fail on purpose, so that a “rebirth” can then take place. There might be a kernel of logic to this in that it’s easy to place environmental blame on the wealthy who make coin off of businesses that pollute, while taking care to ignore the consumers who create the demand in the first place. Not saying this right, just exploring their logic.

  50. Gravity and Electromagnetism are like doppelgängers who live in very different neighborhoods and tax brackets. Electromagnetism is a rich guy who is far sighted, full of energy and light, great at communication, and always obeys the speed limit in the dimension in which he lives. The universe is his country club. Gravity is a poor man who always is working for Electromagnetism and other guys in the nearby dimensions or neighborhoods, just working to keep spacetime tight around the masses and holding it together. He is lousy with communication, only mumbles very lowly when he does speak, works in the dark, has potential energy but it all tends to go to zero after all that kinetic falling is done. He has just one place, one place that happens every so often where he is the absolute master and Electromagnetism and all the others guys are finally subservient to him, but even there he is limited because he can never leave the place and everyone who does come to visit seems to never leave and just fills it up more and more, causing it to grow. A real hole in the wall kind of place. But, all in all, Gravity is a positive guy when around, and never has any negativity about him.
