@banksrail How about this? In four years after Biden has had his term in office, if he manages to get any of these or any other projects done like you want, I will agree with you. If he turns out to be just another corporatist schmoe and nothing gets done, then I will be proven correct and you’ll admit it. Ok? And please stop the TDS crap. I believe you missed one really large factor in the problems with HSR in the US. Race. Whites moved out of the cities after WW2 to escape from blacks and have peaceful lives in the countryside. Because of this, American cities are largely black and hobbled with monetary issues (someone doesn’t like working or paying taxes). This in turn causes the white population to consider HSR in a dim light, as it would mostly be used by blacks to get around much as urban rail systems in the US (MARTA in Atlanta is not called Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta for no reason) while providing little benefit to whites. One needs only to visit a transportation hub in any urban center in America and look around to understand why Americans are so hostile to HSR.

@banksrail Are you white? If you are, please tell me what city you live in. Don’t tell me you live “just outside” or “nearby” one. If you do then your arguments and experience are void. If you DO live in an urban area, do you live with people you are “cautious” around? Or did you choose (you have the free will to be subtly racist while hiding it behind excuses) an “ethnic” neighborhood? I’ll bet you are the hipster trust fund child who moved from the burbs or sticks to the big city to go slum with the artistic types but who still crosses to the other side of the street to avoid the black guy walking the other way.

Trump tried to do just that by attempting to remove US forces from overseas. Look what happened to him now. Biden is going to cower before NATO and the Japanese and spend money on them while his own country can’t get even one lousy HSR built.

@banksrail CHSR was a poorly planned deal from the get go, and needed to be stopped before it ruined the cause of HSR in the US forever. The project was and is a joke. As for the Hudson tunnels, the blame should really be placed on the PANYNJ for submitting a poorly defined plan for it all while refusing to come to terms on labor costs (unions f*cked that one up).
