  1. John-Daniel Munoz Large businesses like Amazon have many options at their disposal when it comes to choosing where to locate. Part of the process is that the business that can bring the most benefit to a location is going to get multiple offers from different places to sweeten the deal for them. That’s how it works. A tax break is merely an incentive to attempt to attract more businesses. What NY offered in the competition was peanuts compared to what would have been gained. NY literally had won a golden ticket, then threw it away. All for political correctness. Bear in mind also that other employers who previously wanted to come to NYC are now reassessing their moves because of this.

  2. Think about it. All the construction workers who would have been forced to receive pay checks for building the HQ. Gone. All of the realtors who would have had to make commissions of of sales to Amazon employees. Gone. All the local businesses in the area who have been forced to make more money off of the employees nearby. Gone. All the maintenance workers who could have been put to work fixing the subways paid for by a new tax infusion into the city coffers. Gone. I could go on forever about the knock on effects of this, but it would not change a thing. Let’s give praise to Mike Gianaris and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez for a job well done! Now no one will have to suffer the burden of having too much pay in NYC! Right...?
