The whole US economy has been hit in the kneecaps right now, so it is not possible to point at any one industry and call it a going concern when everyone is facing the same issues. What is important is making sure that the economy comes out the other side of this crisis reasonably intact, which requires aid to guarantee survival. The last jokers who thought they could get away with telling industries to go to hell were Hoover, Smoot and Hawley. Oh, and Gerald Ford...

The only thing that Obama did that was worth a damn apart from getting Bin Laden was bailing out GM and preserving the national economy. Had Obama taken your advice our worries about socialism would be far worse now as the Bernies of the world get the chance to dupe the downtrodden into their fold. On occasion, an ounce of socialism can help kill a pound of communism.
