  1. Why should the Americans sell to a backstabbing nation just because they chose the wrong friends? If American LNG is not good enough for them the first time around, it certainly won’t be good the second. Furthermore, if Russia decides to go empire shopping with the money the Germans give them and the Baltic nations get run over, it will have been Germany that signed their death warrants by trading with their conquerors. The Russians don’t keep a massive military presence in Kaliningrad for no reason.

  5.  @georgobergfell  True, but without the American LNG backup it will be impossible for Germany to negotiate with Gasprom from a superior position. And why should the Americans be willing to hold the line for a nation willing to cast them to the side? German standing alone against Russia is just that...standing alone.
