  1. Because every single one of those mergers stopped the US government from having blood on their hands, which is political dynamite. When major corporations get torn to shreds in fire sales, there tends to be bad political effects that kills off politicians careers.

  4. Which wouldn't hurt too bad because they are so small. But JetBlue is going to go after Frontier if Spirit goes liquidation. Spirit's equipment will goto the majors in sale to cover the creditors, and the employees will goto hell.

  5.  @cityplanner3063  JBs creditors and BoD would not do that. Taking on that kind of debt is unwise when a small airline.
