@nytn Anglo-Saxon and Nordic cultures tend to be the defining metric by which "whiteness" or European is measured. I personally believe it is due to the uniqueness of ethnic appearance that causes people to judge one as being European white or partially European or a complete outsider. If we bear in mind that ethnic percentiles from DNA testing and appearance do not always correlate, it is appearances that confirm European in one individual, percentages and hidden DNA be darned.

@johnnyearp52 It is funny you say that, because I have a friend at work who took a DNA test and got his Y DNA result back as one of the B subclades, but he is white-white and has no evidence of black in his recent family, although I pointed out to him that his direct paternal line seems to never make it back to Europe and ends in Tennessee. No evidence he is Melungeon either.

@StellaWaldvogel If I may say so from personal family discoveries, some of all ages joined both sides not out of any sense of patriotism or political cause, but just to go adventuring in life. Underage teens lied about their age to get in the fight and get away from home, and older men in unhappy marriages used the war as an excuse to abandon their wives and children and seek new lives in the Union or Confederacy. Slavery and its inherent evils were not on their minds when they signed the dotted line.

@nytn I was thinking more of the remake of War of the Worlds. That scene where the hand grenades are used to blow up the walker ship…I know it is a derogatory thought, but aliens would not stand a chance trying to ingest a Palestinian teenager. It would be certain death.

@jaeboston9228 A group of people who have a history of using suicidal attacks to harm their enemy is a people who you don't want to invite inside your spaceship if you are an alien species trying to conquer Earth. A motivated Palestinian teen with a dynamite chest pack would be the last human a alien spaceship would take in. Actually, as in the film, just even a really dirty human whose body is teeming with nasty viruses and bacteria would be just as dangerous for some alien to try to fool around with...it would be like the Andromeda Strain, but in reverse.
