  3. Usually, if you choose the stay in the same position for too long instead of advancing onwards, you tend to be marked as good for little else by your employer. Something tells me this lady did not want to try to reach higher. Maybe it was the circumstances or fear, but the point is that if you never try to climb higher you have no one to blame but yourself. If you spend half your life in a crummy job, there is probably a good reason for it.

  5.  @nytn  I am 27% SE Asian, 73% Euro, but I don't identify as Asian. Asians whom I know are forever reminding me either that I am white or "don't forget who you really are...Asian!" My mom likes to go to casinos that are run by native American tribes, and is persistently asked "What reservation are you from?" by locals and workers. One of my sisters is actually 35% Asian, 65% Euro and to look at her you would never even suspect it. Mixed race inheritance is a complex affair.

  6. It appears that the USSR never mastered the plastic extrusion process for product housings. The defects sited here are things that occurred in the US in the late 1940s-early 1950s at the beginning of the introduction of plastic cased consumer goods, but these issues were resolved by the 1960s. The USSR never escaped the time warp.

  7. Danielle, would you be ok with giving an opinion on the Buffy Sainte-Marie controversy? I would love to hear your point of view on the subject, as it reminds me very much of the Rachel Dolezal fracas.
