In a street fight, if it's one on one, the grappling arts are usually going to be great. However, if you have more than one opponent, then grappling is basically worthless. That is why I'd say striking arts are the best all around bet. Even if you are against a grappler, if you are good at strikes with hands, legs, etc then there is a very good chance you can take out the other guy before he grapples you. Plus you will do much better against multiple opponents. So have a striking art as your main with some training in grappling as a backup in case things go south in a one on one.
