  1. I think it basically comes down to the societies view on privacy and safety. In the US we value our privacy highly and it has proven dangerous to let strangers on your property. This is one reason we have so many National, State, and local parks, not to mention other things like BLM land. This gives people plenty of opportunities to get out into nature without violating the individual persons rights of property and privacy.
